  1. We spent $32M on Price, $24 on JD, $21 on Porcello and $20 on Betts, and extended Sale at the same time. I don't think $85M/3 is all that unrealistic. Doubtful, maybe. (Also, Sale's lux hit is only $25M, but the deferred money does still count.)
  2. Except for the Yankee fans "not gloating" when winning part.
  3. Probably, and even some of the vets. Much comes down to expectations. Not many Sox fans had high expectations, this year- some had none or next to none. If we win, this year, we'll see how many gloat. If we lose, they'll be whiners as with any normally winning team falling on hard times, but I don't think we'll see as much as, say 2019.
  4. I'm hoping there's some sarcasm, here.
  5. Funny how the starting pitching was supposed to be questionable but deep, at least until and if Sevy came back and regained form. It's the bats that have been the weakness, thus far. (I don't expect that to continue.)
  6. If Eovaldi is anything, he's unpredictable. He doesn't "always" do anything, except maybe get hurt. It is possible he can put together a full season of pitching well. I'm not holding my breathe, though.
  7. Can we "handle it?" Some of us went decades without a ring.
  8. mymlbdraft.com and fueledbysports.com has Lawler 3rd, McLain 4th and Mayer 5th throughthefencebaseball.com has McLain 3rd and Lawler 4th cbs ranks the top prospects as such: 1. Leiter 2. Lawler 3. Fabian 4. Rocker 5. Mayer 6. Del Castillo 7. Watson 8. Davis I wonder, if someday,MLB will allow draft pick trading.
  9. Agreed. All things even, I'd like a college player. They seem to be more reliable picks. Bloom does not have a great drafting record, but I doubt does not have the same talent evaluation team working with him, now. It's a big draft for the Sox, as is this IFA cycle.
  10. I used to hardly ever post in game threads due to rampant negativity and Cora bashing. I also used to watch the games on tape delay and fast forward commercials until I caught up live around the 7th to 9th inning- sometimes after the game ended. I sometimes joined late in the game.Lately,I've been watching live and checking into the game thread here and there. It seems tamer, even during the 3 losses to the O's, although that wasn't all that tame.
  11. Maybe they think Davis is as good as anyone else available.
  12. Afraid of jinxing it?
  13. The arguments used to be 12 vs 13, and I remember when 11 was not uncommon. With 2 days off in the first 11 days, most who wanted 13 thought bring up the 14th after 11-13 games would work out, and if there was ever a shortage, the Alt site is just a couple hours away.
  14. It's so easy for many to criticize and complain. Praise seems to come harder for many.
  15. Yes baseball. No fans.
  16. If there is any hint of further issues, they should fly to Boston, tonight, and flip the series we have in Boston Aug 24-25-26.
  17. OK, I didnt realize it was there. I just clicked "new posts" and saw it there.
  18. Kike has plus metrics in CF. Like I said, I'm not complaining- just wondered.
  19. Maybe a priority adjustment is needed. (Just kidding- have fun!)
  20. That makes sense. Maybe Cora just wants players to get time at different positions, in case they may be needed there for a longer term, later.
  21. Just rings, baby!
