  1. My guess is, he will have several chances to eventually pitch 4+ innings in relief, if Cora wants him to. Also, we all know Houck is the 6th starter, who may win the 5 slot, but chances are, we'll need a 7th starter often enough to give Whitlock a chance to start, again, if Cora and Bloom want him to do so.
  2. Certainly, they will have to pay a large chunk of that deal, but Arenado had similar splits: Career: Home: .985 Away: .792 Someone took him.
  3. Or, having cheap young players at key positions, you can afford to spend on FA pitchers.
  4. He has a .333 OBP the last 7 & 14 days. While that is not ideal, it's not horrific either.
  5. The Yanks host the Braves, so here's a chance to gain on both of the projected division leaders. Don't look now, but those pesky Rays, who never seem to miss a beat, even after trading away top talent, have won 4 straight.
  6. Speaking of "rock bottom:" here are the worst teams in MLB by record, currently. 4-12 COL 5-10 NYY 6-10 AZ 6-10 DET 5-9 WSH 6-9 Cubs
  7. Duran will be called up when the following events occur (or at least 2 out of 3): 1. He is deemed ML ready (especially on D) 2. He will play most days.(He needs to be playing nearly everyday to grow.) 3. There is a clear need on the big roster, such as an injury or continued slumping by someone like Renfroe. One interesting note: the only everyday player who is a FA after this year is the switch-hitting Gonzalez, so if Duran replaces him, we don't really gain on split "balance." Renfroe has a few more arb years.
  8. Many "good teams" are seeing their weaknesses exposed, early this season. They were always there, even when some were projecting close to 90 losses for the Sox. Sure, we have many weaknesses, and we will hit our hard times, at some point(s), but look around. We are not alone.
  9. If he sucks on D at 3B, this year, I doubt he has any issues with moving to 3B, this winter. Plus, it seems like nothing phases this kid. He doesn't even know what "anguish" means.
  10. I've said it before, and I'm saying it again: one season (or more) Devers is going MONSTER! He's as pure a hitter as ever can be. Kinda reminds me of Vlad.
  11. Probably the most ideal. Maybe put Vaz 3rd.
  12. They said they wanted to "stretch him out," so they must be picking and choosing when he will most likely be successful to bring him in for 3 innings or so (or more). The guy hasn't let up a run or much of anything. It's hard for me to complain.
  13. Hopefully, we have enough information on Dalbec & Chavis by season's end. We should know if Devers will stay at 3B or be moved to 1B. IMO, there is no way he is moved to LF or DH at his age. If Dalbec shows he can hit, he may be moved to 3B. If Casas shows a need to be promoted, we'll deal with that when it happens. You are right, nothing happens until next winter.
  14. He's got the tools to be a plus defender. I still think he may win the CF job by the end of the season, if they give him a chance.
  15. Even at this early point of the season, it should be easy to acquire a decent 1Bman from somewhere. I think Logan Morrison is still a FA, too.
  16. Dalbec is getting no luck at all. The only Sox hitter without a hit. (He did get a BB.) Speaking of on base, today... Devers 4 for 5 Verdugo 4 for 6 JD, Vaz & Cordero 3 for 5 Marwin 2 for 5 Renfroe 2 for 4 Kike 2 for 6 Dalbec 1 for 5 2 to 5 hitters: 14 for 21
  17. Now, that was sweet.
  18. Devers may be the best defensive 1Bman we have in the system, once he learns it. He's clearly the best on offense. We can't count on Casas, yet. Dalbec has not proven he is a FT 1Bman, yet, either.
  19. Big assumption: Duran is a plus on offense at the MLB level, right now. To me, if Arroyo keeps playing well, Hernandez should play CF more often. That allows for Verdugo to play LF and the platoon in LF.
  20. This is really fun!
  21. Of course he does. BTW, as a league, the SS position has hit about as well as 3B over the last few years.
  22. Some very good ones will likely hit the FA market, this year. With Bogey reaching his opt out after next year, maybe we could be "proactive," assuming we don't extend him. Would you move Bogey to 3B or 2B? (If his issue is range, 3B make more sense, but that means moving Devers to 1B and making 2 moves due to one signing.)
  23. I actually think #3 is too high.
  24. Power Rankings now have Sox ranked 3rd. MLB Power Rankings after week 2 WWW.MLB.COM We’re headed into the third full week of the season, and things are shaking out exactly how we drew it up. The Mariners and Royals are tops in their divisions, the Reds have the second-highest run differential in baseball and the Yankees are off to their worst start in nearly
