With no Marwin and Santana and Arroyo also on the IL, the flex bench is very limited. We might want to call up Cordero and Arauz, and send a pitcher down, so Cora can have more bench flex.

That was a nice win. Good to see the HR ball, but that park is teeny tiny. Richards looked good until... he didn't. I'm starting to think any pitcher not named Nathan or Eduardo should just be yanked after 5 or 6 or the first sign of trouble in the 4th or beyond.

Not many $6M pitchers have given what Perez has given. Now, if he keeps pitching like his last 8 starts (6.23 ERA), then of course, we say no. I'm not all that big on recency as the only or major factor, but how many SP'ers in MLB, today have had 19 starts with these amount of decent to good one? You can never have too much SP'ing. This year is a fluke, concerning no SP'er IL's, except Sale & Seabold. If we end up with too many, teams will be beating down to door to trade for one. I see your point but feel he needs to face better batters.

As of now, I'd say no, but yes to Perez. That all could change.

If he stays healthy, we might be surprised at what he gets, assuming he does okay the rest of the way (a big assumption).

I'd like to see him called up earlier than for just 2 starts. We need to see what this kid's got. It looks like he'll be on next year's 40, so the "urgency" is not really there, but at his age- AA is it.

Agreed, and he's got another year of control, which is big. Even him, I'm not sure Bloom is looking at trading 5 years of Downs (plus others) for 1.3 of Berrios.

We could piggy back Sale after Perez goes 3 and Houck after Richards goes 3-4. Spread the wealth.

I can see why some posters are not high on Downs, but he is still one of our best prospects. One not so good Hal season is not reason enough to trade a top prospect for a decent rental. Plus, it’s not going to happen. Zero chance. Nada.

He did so well, last year (2nd in CYA), had we had him, we may not have gotten the 4th draft pick.

I don't see trading away guys like Wilson, Potts, Rosario or maybe even Ward or Groome as hurting the farm all that much. When we traded Beeks, did anyone think he was all that promising? I'm hoping we don't have to trade prospects as good as Groome, but that's about as high as I go, this summer.
