  1. I gave it my best, Max. I'm hoping someone can top your 9 game streak. Maybe that starts, tomorrow.
  2. There's also a world of difference between demotion and giving a kid another chance and cutting them loose. I'm all for demoting Cordero. I have been for days. I'm all for lessening Dalbec's playing time -Chavis platoon? If we had someone to call-up, I might demote Dalbec, too. There's no way I totally give up on anyone over 5 weeks of slumping. If I did, I'd have given up on one of my all time favorite players, JBJ, several times over his career. Jackie started his career at .538 over his first 530 PAS! NOT 100! 530! Not only that, JBJ started the next season at .426 over his first 71 PAs, so we're talking over 600 PAs of near .500 hitting. He then hit 1.441 over the next 90 PAs for one of the hottest streaks a Sox player has ever had. I'm not saying Franchy or Dalbec are the next JBJ, but you don't just cut players loose after a 100 PA stretch of bad hitting.
  3. I can see Atlanta turning the tides on the Jays, but this A's series will not be easy. I'm pulling for the Rays, too.
  4. The team is 5-1 in ERod starts (3.82 ERA). The team is 5-2 in Eovaldi's starts (4.62 ERA).
  5. Richards last 6 starts: 33.2 IP 30 Hits 13 BB 32 K 12 ER (3.21 ERA) The team went 3-3 in those 6 starts.
  6. Pivetta last 5 starts: 25.2 IP 15 Hits 15 BB 24 Ks 9 ER (3.16 ERA) The team is 4-1 in his last 5 starts.
  7. Perez in his last 3 starts: 16.1 IP 15 Hits 3 BB 17 K 4 ER (2.20 ERA) The team lost all 3 starts.
  8. You stopped saying Renfroe and Taylor suck. What happened? Didn't you also say we should demote Devers when he started slowly?
  9. It's hard to sweep 4 vs anyone. We've been swept once (first series vs BAL). We have 3 sweeps (v TB and @ BAL- both 3 game series & 2 @ NYM.) We have won 3 of 4 twice (@MN & @BAL) and split 2 4 game series (CWS & SEA). We won 2 of 3 vs DET. We split a 2 game series with TOR. We've lost just two series, all year (the second was 3 of 4 @TEX).
  10. We host the A's coming up, while the Yanks travel to Tampa and the Jays to Atlanta. This week could be telling.
  11. Perez has been a bigger surprise than Pivetta, in my eyes. Without these two, we'd be bummin' out and likely at each other's throats.
  12. I'm not arguing we should have taken him out. My point is about it "not making sense." His history shows he falters after 5 IP. There is some sense in the idea of taking him out. Had we done so his previous two games, we might have 2 more wins.
  13. Do you know what the word "cut" means? You should. We've told you over an over, yet you keep saying it. Cut = DFA
  14. With Perez, it's not the 3rd time through: it's the 6th inning. (Same with Pivetta, except Pivetta sucks third time through.) ERA 0.00 5th inning 20.25 6th innings OPS Against .687 first time .858 second time .451 third time Pivetta 3.00 ERA in 5th 15.00 in 6th .539 first PA .440 second 1.125 third
  15. Time for a big rally. Start by getting some men on base.
  16. Should Cora have left Perez in his last game into the 6th inning? He was "cruising" with 5 IP, 3 H and 1 ER. Sound familiar? In the 6th he let up 3 singles and we went from tied 1-1 to down 3-1. How about his start before the last one? 5 IP 4H and 0 ER (cruising even better than tonight), then comes the 6th: Reach on Error and HR, and we're down 3-1, instead of tied 1-1. His 6th inning ERA is 20.25. I'm okay with being against it, but "makes no sense?" Had they left him in and lost the lead, we'd be posting these numbers and saying it makes no sense leaving him in.
  17. Perez is quietly pitching like a #2 or #3. Last 14 Days: 2.38 Perez (2 GS) 1.147 WHIP 2.81 Pivetta (3) 1.125 2.84 Richards (3) 1.105 4.50 ERod (2) 1.900 6.10 Eovaldi (2) 1.355 Last 21 days: 3.00 in 3 starts. Last 28 days: 4.18 in 5 starts by Perez.
  18. I'd like to see us sign ERod and someone as good or better, too. Replacing ERod with an ace is barely an improvement. We hardly ever lose with ERod on the mound.
  19. Eovaldi's already done the "something." I'm hoping for a rebound, now.
  20. I’m not a huge Chavis fan. I must have traded him a hundred times on BTV. It’s more about lost faith in Cordero.
  21. Agreed: Career OPS+ 89 Chavis (546 career PAs) 85 Cordero (393 career PAs) It is 62 from 2019-2021 (140 PAs)
