  1. Now,let's see if we can turn a leadoff walk into a run.
  2. Until Santana is ready.
  3. This pattern is disconcerting.
  4. We looked like we were getting into a big run total followed by meh, then another big scoring game. Yesterday was supposed to be big. 11 5 12 6 11 4 1 ? tonight ?
  5. walk + grounder+ grounder= run
  6. The lead off walks always kill ya.
  7. Do the even remember the original recipe, or do we need to bring Colonel Sanders back to life?
  8. Time for them to be set straight.
  9. True nuff, but he did homer his first game and had the next game off.
  10. I think we could have won without any one player and maybe even any 2 players and several groups of 3 of our better players. YES, we were that good!
  11. Marwin is now needed in LF, 2B and 1B.
  12. Or the weak off.
  13. Closers in key Sox seasons: 67 John Wyatt 75 Dick Drago (Diego Segui) 78 Bob Stanley 86 Bob Stanley (Joe Sambito/Calvin Schiraldi) 03 B-H Kim 04 Foulke 07 Papelbon 13 Koji 18 Kimbrel 21 Barnes
  14. Pedro was better. Clemens, too. 2.52/ 0.978 WHIP Pedro (190 ERA+) 3.06/ 1.158 WHIP Clemens (144 ERA+) 2.19 /1.142 WHIP Ruth (125 ERA+) Pedro from 1999-2003: 2.10/0.905 (228 ERA+) Clemens from 1986 to 1994: 2.83/ 1.109 (153 ERA+) Pedro dominated during the steroid era.
  15. To me, our best number 2's have been... (Ace in parenthesis) 72 Marty Pattin (Siebert) 73-74 Bill Lee (Tiant) 75 Lee & Rick Wise (Tiant) 76-77 Wise & Fergie Jenkins (Tiant) 78 Tiant & Mike Torrez (Eckersley) 79 Torrez & Stanley (Eck) 80-82 Torrez & John Tudor (Eck) 83 Ojeda-Hurst-Tudor (Eck) 84-85 Hurst-Boyd-Ojeda (Clemens) 86 Hurst-Boyd (Clemens) 87-88 Hurst (Clemens) 89-90 Boddicker (Clemens) 91 Greg Harris (Clemens) 92 Viola (Clemens) 93 Viola-Darwin (Clemens) 94-96 Sele (Clemens) 97 Wakefield-Sele (Gordon) 98 Wake & Saberhagen (Pedro) 99 Saberhagen (Pedro) 00 ----- (Pedro) 01 Nomo (Pedro) 02 Lowe-Burkett-Wake (Pedro) 03 Lowe (Pedro) 04 Schilling (Pedro) 05 Wake (Wells) 06 Schilling-Lester (Beckett) 07 Schilling-DiceK (Beckett) 08 Beckett-Dice-K (Lester) 09 Beckett (Lester) 10 Buchholz (Lester) 11 Beckett (Lester) 12 ------- (------) 13 Lackey-Buch (Lester) 14 Lackey (Lester) 15 Buch (ERod) 16 Price-Wright (Porcello) 17 Pom-ERod (Sale) 18 Price-Porcello-Erod (Sale) 19 Porcello (ERod) 20 Eovaldi (-----) 21 Perez-Richards-ERod (Pivetta) PENDING
  16. I like seeing Dalbec get a day off.
  17. Well, he did drop off pretty quickly and missed a lot of games after we traded him. Then, the whole PED thingy.
  18. Maybe it's Vaz that needs to learn rhythm. He does not do well with many pitchers compared to his back-up.
  19. Those two were tops. I always wondered how Manny's numbers would have been had Papi been behind him.
  20. True nuff, and it's not surprising the only times we won or came real close, was when we had a great pitcher or two: Lonborg Tiant (Lee & Wise) Clemens (Hurst & Boyd) Pedro (Schilling) Beckett (Schilling & Dice-K) Lester (Lackey & Buch) Sale (Price, Porcello & ERod) I left out some great RP'ers.
  21. TB should move, too. I always felt Miami and Tampa should share a team. Call it the Florida Marlins and play about half their home games in each city.
  22. Can a guy stand 1 inch to the left of 2B and run towards 1B after the pitch is thrown?
  23. He needs something. I think he'll improve as the season warms up. (Maybe that's just wishful thinking.)
  24. His 2016 and 2018 seasons were better. This guy can pitch. He has one of the best K rates in MLB over the last 3-5 years.
