  1. The absurdity is overwhelming and toxic.
  2. Did they say he's an unprofessional hitter or anything even close? No doubt, he's unorthodox, and I would not argue against calling him a big undisciplined, but the kid walks enough to show he's not a hack. He hits so much, it's not a fluke, and I'm not sure trying to mess with his approach is such a good idea. To me, it helps a team having a variety of hitting approaches in the line-up.
  3. Musta been luck. He needs to work with a pro to learn hos to really hit. How soon some forget the kid went 4 for 5 with 2 HRs in game 162 to get us here. If this isn't an example of the absurdity of knee jerk reactionism, I don't know what is. Next, we'll be hearing Cora should be fired.
  4. I "know it?" LMAO! Most of this thread is a joke.
  5. This is why it's best to avoid game threads.
  6. I'm so sick of these line-outs right at people.
  7. We certainly have higher need areas than back up DH. One idea is to trade JD with cash and sign Schwarber, but we could just wait until next winter to sign another hitter.
  8. ERod got the start because he was the best bet to do well and was not on short rest. He did not do all that well, but with a little help, he might have gotten out of that inning. Sure, it could have been worse, too. I think we might be reading too much into Cora's choices and intentions. If we advance, ERod will likely start again- maybe even game 5.
  9. Too bad they didn't start Pivetta over ERod, right?
  10. Well, he was unlucky Kike bobbled the ball and a dribbler went for an RBI hit.
  11. But of course, the ole GIDP followed by a line out. Falling back into that pattern.
  12. See, they can make mistakes, too. We need to make them pay for them.
  13. The little bobble by Kike and a dribbler. We do that and still don't score. They do it and get two.
  14. I think we know your opinion by now.
  15. Strike back, quickly, here.
  16. He may reach the third time through by the 3rd inning.
  17. Make every hit count!
  18. Indeed. Getting past NYY, TBR, HOU & LAD would be sweet.
  19. We lose some salary, this winter without many major holes to fill due to players moving on. (Pedey, Richards, Ottavino, Perez & maybe ERod) Next winter, we lose even more, but some will be hard to replace: $22M JD $20M Bogey $17M Eovaldi $15M Price $7M Vaz We can afford Devers, a big contract (pitcher) and a bunch of mid rangers, but we have very little wiggle room for mistakes, at least until we can get some more farm contributions (Casas, Seabold, Bello, Duran, Wickowksi and more.)
  20. The team went 19-12 in ERod's starts, this year, despite a 1-5 May. He has a 2.11 ERA over his last 5 games and a .638 OPS Against over that time. I wouldn't say I have complete confidence he well pitch well, tonight, but the guy is a veteran and a winner. In his past 11 starts, he's had 9 good and 2 bad outings. Two of his good ones were vs the Rays and one of the bad ones was, too. Have faith. He a good pitcher.
  21. Me2, and who wants the Astros to make the ALCS for the 5th straight year? (Never done B4)
