  1. There might be 10 other guys not on the 40 with more hope and promise of making the 40 than Guerrero. Maybe more. Also, he won't make the 40, unless they plan on him making the 26, so the odds are about zero.
  2. We all hated the idea of trading Betts. The return was not what anyone expected, but the rumors were there was only one other equally lame offer. I like the the looks of the Gray trade. I'm not going to say Betts helped us get Gray, even though technically one part of one part helped us get him.
  3. Exactly. To say Fitts got us Gray is missing the big picture. To say Betts got us Gray is... 🙃
  4. I get it: you are saying contradictory things, and not just once. You literally just wrote this... Lets try it a different way: I don't really care if the Orioles make the playoffs or if they signed Alonso. I'm taking a break from responding to anything you post, since is an amorphous blob of words.
  5. Your major point is where we rank in revenue vs spending. That means other teams matter- their revenue and their spending. Whether the O's make the playoffs are not is unrelated, but you did project them ahead of the Sox, when you predicted us to finish in 4th place, which is yet another position based on other teams mattering. This is the "logic" that is not logic. It's not about me not understanding. I fully understand all of your contradictions to the letter. The goalposts have been moved so often, they've added wheels to them.
  6. Maybe because Priester had such a good year, the guy we got back must be good? I have Holobetz ahead of him, anyway.
  7. Fred will choose Cash, then. Whatever it takes to make JH look worse. Later, when these guys are paid more than their AAV, he'll switch to AAV. I like to use AAV, and not to make JH look good. I actually agree that he should spend more, but because it represents the total money per year given out.
  8. It kinda reminds me of how basketball is ruined by everyone standing around waiting to shoot a 3.
  9. Confusing to you, maybe. Posters have been complaining about the return we got for Betts for years. Hell, someone just said we should dump Wong, so we lose all remnants of that trade and can move on. Some may or may not count who we got for Verdugo in trade as something carried over from the Betts trade, as Fitts was not the only player traded for Gray. Is Fitts' part of the Gray trade a partial "gift that keeps on giving?" It might depend on how well Gray does in 2026, and even then how much of his success do we attribute to Fitts? 🙃
  10. Depends on what looks better for Fred.
  11. If we're not top 10, JH needs to run out of town. Once we get to #9, the goalposts will be moved to top 5.
  12. Verdugo signs minor league deal w SDP. Man, he fell fast. We got Weissert & Fitts for him, and Fitts was part of the Sonny Gray deal. Man, that Betts trade just keeps giving and giving! 🙃
  13. Yup. If he looks sharp, this season, that may change. (We may add him to the 40 before then, if he does.)
  14. That was the equation: 5+ years of hope (Mayer) vs 2-3 years of a more sure bet solution (Paredes or KMarte).
  15. Looks that way. Pitchers rarely just suddenly gain control at his age.
  16. I really wanted one of those two. I like Durbin, and I think IKF was a nice but expensive utility addition, but K Marte or Paredes would have made a huge difference.
  17. I'm about done even trying to debate this. It's endless walk backs, reframing and rehashing.
  18. Maybe a super long shot, but yes, true. It wasnt fair to Song.
  19. Yes, but it remains one of our least good depth position. Casas sucks at 1B, too.
  20. But DHern has one of MLB history's highest K/9 rate. MLB History (80+ IP) K/9 14.58 Chapman 14.56 Hader 14.54 E Diaz 14.45 Betances 14.06 D Williams 14.04 Kimbrell 14,03 DHern
  21. Then what is the 23rd ranking all about? Rankings are all about our place among the other 29 teams.
