  1. I think he got close to what was expected, so in that sense, yes. Contracts don’t seem to be getting any smaller. I did expect more before the opt out. He could have gotten $18.4M/1 and basically got $9.6M for year two.
  2. Then who? Pete Seager?
  3. I’m not for trading either one. I’d have to be blown away to even listen to an offer. Maybe I’m wrong, but I really like how we have two of the best long relief men in baseball, and that seems to be the direction baseball is headed towards. I’m leaning towards keeping both in their current roles, but moving one (Whitlock IMO) to the rotation makes sense, too.
  4. Be careful what you wish for.
  5. Thanks for sharing. Lugo was a good player. It would have really helped, if he could have filled the lead off slot, but his defense was a plus, until the injuries messed with that. He played hurt, a lot. RIP, Julio.
  6. Who do you trade for Olsen? Could you try to get a pitcher, too?
  7. The Braves prove they are smart.
  8. Indeed. Seager does seem like the most obvious prediction, but you guys need another top pitcher. Sev might be that guy, but better to count on him as frosting on the cake. We have 3 major needs and a couple minor ones: SP P P Utility infielder P
  9. Manny Pina signs with Braves for $8/2. That’s more than I expected. This was a guy I thought we might replace Vaz or Plawecki with.
  10. I had hopes we’d trade for him, last deadline. I’d prefer him to Matz, too.
  11. Now, I’m thinking maybe we should sign him. Lol
  12. We won over 72% of ERod’s starts since 2018. That will be greatly missed and hard to replace. I have very high hopes for Houck and Whitlock, but they have a lot to prove as starters.
  13. Another Ottavino type deal?
  14. There is potential for a plus, but it’s certainly not a given. Replacing Richards and Perez is another comp. if we sign Matz, I’d say he’s replacing those two not ERod.
  15. That would be decent, but is that an upgrade on a a pen that was considered a weak spot minus Ottavino, Robles, Richards and then Houck & Whitlock?
  16. And who replaces them in the pen?
  17. That sounds reasonable, but we'd need to do more than just add him.
  18. I think I read $39M/3.
  19. Surprisingly, he has a lower OPS Against at home in his career. (.737 in COL to .765 Away)
  20. Same as "sign him." Your point was clear.
  21. Then, they should have extended him in July or traded him.
  22. It certainly is not "unf***ing believable!"
  23. Excellent closers are not easy to find at a low cost. I think Houck has a great profile to be a top closer, next year. I like him better than Iglesias or Hand and he'll be $10-14M cheaper. Whitlock looks like he could be a very good SP'er and can get through the 3rd time through more easily than Houck, but having a RP'er that can go 2-3 innings is a huge asset in an era where starters rarely go 5 or 6 innings. Again, I'm fine, if we use Whitlock as a starter, especially if we can trade for Trivino or the like, but until we do, I'm thinking I'd rather us sign Stroman, Glausman, Ray or Rodon than Igesias or Hand. (Matz > Hand, too.)
  24. They could offer a QO, then extend him.
