According to BTV, we could get Montas and Trivino for Duran and one of Downs or Dalbec but maybe we’d need to give up Duran, Dalbec and Groome.

Trading him was to free up $7M and improve the D, and I only mentioned it as a way to get close to the same $40M winter spending budget we had last winter. Then, the "blueprint" could be nearly identical, except we'll sign 3-4 players not 8-10. I did not say we'd sign Schwarber: I said we can. It's obvious Bloom likes him. For the 20th time: I do NOT want to sign Schwarber.

Okay, the question marks confused me. Personally, I'd have paid ERod more, so I do think it is team-friendly. He could have gotten $18.4M/1 and may opt out after getting just $28M/2. That's essentially $18.4M + $9.6M for year 2. If he stays for 5, he basically got $$59M/4 over the last 4 years of his deal. He's not old. -
What winters were the biggest spending winters? 1) in terms of most overall money spent? 2) in terms of most yearly average salary signed?

Well, that's where we are not sure about what Kennedy meant. He may very well have been hinting at staying under the line again, and that would mean about $28M to spend, not the $40M we spent. last winter... $10M Richards $8M Ottavino $7M Kike (x 2) $6M Perez $3M Renfroe $3M Marwin $2M Andriese $1M Sawamura (x 2) (BTW, we could trade Renfroe and Vaz and add $14M to the $28M and get close to last winter's spending budget. We can find the next Renfroe for $3M. Or, we can DFA Plawecki and trade Renfroe and get to about a $38M spending budget.)

He was a back-up. His PAs were not restricted by his age. Besides, not laying a lot means he has more innings left in him as a catcher.
