I guess there is a chance Casas fizzles out, but he has to be penciled in as our future 1Bman. Dalbec may move to LF, DH, 3B or another team, once Casas proves he belongs.

MLBTR... It’s a very minor move in the players’ favor, but one that seems unlikely to thrill the union. The MLBPA actually increased their desired league minimum in yesterday’s proposal (to MLB’s chagrin), seeking a $775K figure next season that’d climb $30K annually to $895K by 2026. The union paired that with a slight dip in its efforts to expand arbitration, but the league has stringently refused to entertain the possibility of broader Super Two eligibility altogether. Last season, the league minimum was set at $570.5K. As Travis Sawchik of the Score calculated last month, the minimum would need to be set at $650K in 2022 to keep pace with inflation, relative to the terms of the 2016-21 CBA.

The game was close for most of the time, and a one run game for much of the ending. The Bobby Grich 2 run HR that went off Hendu's glove put the Angels up by one. Had that not happened, maybe we don't need his later inning heroics.

I felt bad for Buck, too. It was hard not to. My anger was directed towards management, as if often was, until Henry took over the reigns- well, actually, I like the Duquette appointment.

#48 Durbin Feltman: https://soxprospects.com/players/feltman-durbin.htm Potential up-and-down relief type. Ceiling of a middle reliever. Unlikely to develop into a late-inning option unless the raw stuff he showed in 2018 returns. Both fastball and slider show at least average potential and his curveball has developed into a nice complementary pitch to give hitters another look. Fastball command will be key to development, as well as whether he gets comfortable throwing it up in the zone given renewed emphasis on that in today's MLB. #47 Freili Encarnacion: https://soxprospects.com/players/encarnacion-freili.htm High baseball IQ and makeup. Potential leader. Well-liked by his teammates. The organization believes he has potential to develop into a middle-of-the-order bat. Defensive projections remain to be seen. Armas sure declined quickly after that great '84 season, but he still started 116 OF games in '86. 1984 43 HRs and 123 RBI (.831 OPS) 1985 23/64 (.812) 1986 11/58 (.714) That .454 OPS in his last 24 games of the season was enough to bench him. (Dave Henderson took over.)

Indeed, he was. I have no hard feelings about him, but I really felt it was the right thing not to outbid the Yanks. That play where Manny cut off his throw really highlighted the "NOODLE" arm.

I don't disagree, but his D was better than Buck's and would have helped in that game.

His one value was on defense, and our manager wanted Buck on the field to celebrate victory.

True, but at the time, I felt it was best to not pay Damon what he got. Also, I think Damon's numbers from 2006-2009 were helped by playing in Yankee Stadium half his games. All-in-all, I think we made the right choice. In fact, I think the vast majority of our choices to let free agents walk worked out well- then add the comp picks we gained from losing them, and we did great.

He should not even have been in the game, at that point. Stapleton had been used as a late inning defensive replacement, often, that year.
