  1. You have no idea, if Tampa wants him or not. Hell, they acquired him after the same type season. They can’t even pay Snell. You think they didn’t “want” him? They can’t even afford to pay Wacha $3.5M.
  2. Look, everybody thought there was no way we could win without ERod and Sale doing very well, this year. Maybe someone else picks up the slack. Maybe not and we suck. That’s baseball. You go off expectations and hopes. Bloom is not done, but your posts have a hint of finality to them.
  3. I agreed with everything until the end. Do you know what jettison means? Both these young guys are already in the pen and doing great in a role that is becoming the new way staffs are being used. I get your point and it has merit, but please spare the omg stuff. It’s not absurd to think adding another top starter and keeping Houck and Whitlock in the pen is a good idea.
  4. Well, you only mentioned ERA and him not missing bats when he actually has a very good missed bat rate, but you don’t want to hear about analytics. I doubt many view Wacha as ERod’s replacement, and if Bloom does, then you will not be alone in thinking we will be worse, next year with our rotation.
  5. You think Bloom is done?
  6. Sale could give us 100-150 more innings, so one could view that as coming close to replacing ERod, but it still leaves a slot open. I doubt Bloom is done, so I’m waiting to grade Bloom for the winter.
  7. Maybe. He did with Perez, Richards and others. He got some right, too.
  8. I won’t disagree, but I trust Bloom to get more right than wrong. $7M seems like too much, but it’s the going rate.
  9. This move does not excite me, but let’s give it time. Renfroe, Kike and Whitlock didn’t excite me much either.
  10. So? Should I care? ERA is so passe.
  11. It’s Henry I’m not sure about. It’s about the budget not Bloom to me.
  12. Let’s hope so. I like Wacha more than Perez.
  13. I agree, or we lose more.
  14. Me, too, even at 5 years $16.5M.
  15. $7M is an expensive pots, but I have faith in Bloom.
  16. Well said, as always.
  17. "The deal is a one-year contract reportedly worth $7MM, per Alex Speier of the Boston Globe (via Twitter). That would be a raise for Wacha, who signed last offseason with the Rays for a $3MM guarantee." -MLBTR Kinda like Perez got.
  18. I would think 4 or 5 max but 3 would be nicer.
  19. Let’s not act like this will be Bloom’s centrepiece move. If it is, I’ll be joining the bash brigade.
  20. I do t disagree, but he might have higher upside at this point in time. I doubt this is someone Bloom is counting on to fill ERod’s shoes- maybe Perez.
  21. I was thinking maybe we’d trade for a pitcher like Montas and sign a Matz/Jon Gray type. Add a decent RPer and utility middle infielder and call it a day.
  22. If we traded for Montas, I’d be 100%. As our roster is right now, we’d have to move one to the rotation to have any chance at a ring.
  23. The way pens are changing, having two guys that can go 2-3 innings every 2-4 days gives us a huge advantage over many teams. Maybe both can give us many more innings, next year from the pen.
  24. He’s a FA, so I count him as off the roster, unless we replace him with him. Lol!
  25. No. I’m about 60-40 on Whitlock staying in the pen and 85-15 on Houck. Of course, if we only add one meh sp’er then those numbers will move.
