  1. No, you haven't disputed that. You are correct, but you seem to act like the first 2.5 winters of Bloom's reign is what we are stuck with. Nobody doubts the fact that we have not spent large on any one player under Bloom, so far, but we don't need to wait for the first one to expect it will happen.
  2. OK, that makes sense: 2021-2022=2 years. There have been several times I've questioned some moves made by our GM and been wrong. 2013 was a big one. Even with some swings and misses, last winter- most notably Richards, Perez, Ottavino & Marwin, things worked out pretty well, especially when you consider where our starting point was from 2021's roster. That roster was not only weak, but it was as shallow as I've seen in years. This winter, I expected we'd have about the same amount of spending money but with a deeper roster, not as many holes to fill. I'd be lying if I said I felt good about the spending, so far, but maybe one of the signings will be next year's Kike or Renfroe, or we'll discover a new Whitlock or two. The money, so far: $12M JBJ $10M Paxton $7M Wacha $5M R Hill ($34M Total) Then, there is the $7M Vaz option and the Barnes extension from last season at $9.4M. There is still $22M to spend and stay below the line. Maybe we go over- maybe we don't. Maybe we trade some salary, so we can sign more. Maybe we bargain hunt for another year, but I feel pretty confident, Henry & Bloom will spend very large, soon. Maybe and hopefully on Devers, maybe him and other, maybe just others. He may be looking at 2023 or 2024 as the optimal year to go large, as Price's deal comes off the books and maybe we get some infusion from the farm.
  3. But wasn't your point about Henry not spending large over the last 2 years, and it was really just 2021- the year after a horrific season and obvious rebuild?
  4. Sox interested in Colin McHugh... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/red-sox-among-teams-interested-in-collin-mchugh.html
  5. Andrelton Simmons signs for $4M plus incentives with the Cubs.
  6. Kershaw resigns with Dodgers for $17M/1 with incentives.
  7. I won't let you forget! (LOL)
  8. The Bogey & Sale extensions began in 2020, but yes, no big FA signings.
  9. It's been a rebuild 2-3 years. I won't use the "C" word for fear of setting off some sensitive posters. It's also hard to ignore big extensions, when considering the timing of big FA signings. Among the top 120 Total Contract Value Signings in MLB history, the Sox have 8. These 8 players were signed under Henry's watch: 19. Price '16-'22 43. AGon '12-'20 47. Sale '20-'24 51. Crawford '11-'17 76. Bogey '20-'25 86. Pedey '14-'21 86. JDM '18-'22 107. Pablito '15-'19 (Other big ones include Dice-K, Rusney, HRam, JD Drew, Beckett, paying Renteria about $40M for 1 year and the cost of Moncada.) Henry does have a history of stepping back from spending big and then wham, he jumps back in big time. It's interesting to note that out of these top 8 contracts, two began in 2020 (not that long ago), and 7 of them srated after or ran up to 2019 or beyond. I remember people thinking the winter before 2013 was too much bargain hunting and not enough big splash moves, and that worked out okay.
  10. I’m driving the Devers forever bandwagon. Climb aboard!
  11. The RBIs are affected by the OBPs of then people in front of you. MB bats first a lot.
  12. If I had to bet, I'd bet on Devers bat, but it's real close. Ages 21-24: Devers: .279 102 337 in 2104 PAs (.279 34 112 per 162 w 45 2B+3B and 6 SB) .338 OBP/.513 SLG/ .850 OPS M Betts: .292 78 310 in 2309 PAs (.292 25 99 per 162 w 50 2B+3B & 26 SB) .351 OBP/.488 SLG/.839 OPS
  13. I’m not getting it.
  14. Yes, way better D. Baserunning, too
  15. I'd give Devers 10+ years (close to $300M), but Mookie was worth more. I'd give Bogey 5-7 years, but no more than $25M per year, which I think would not be enough to keep him after this year.
  16. I understand and agree. This post was about robo umps, but no biggie.
  17. Mayer has 26 in the rookie league.
  18. If a deal was made during the freeze, there is no rush to announce it quickly and risk exposure.
  19. Will MLB ask for phone records to see who talked to who and when?
  20. Was it seriously discussed? Is this considered one of the short notice rule changes owners bargained for, so maybe it can be added at any time without the union needed?
  21. When is the earliest we might see Mayer with the big club?
  22. They are afraid of being accused of secret deal-making over the freeze period.
  23. That's the only anti-itch cream I see.
  24. Minus the difference between JBJ and Renfroe, right? Also, possibly a minus a minus only adds to the $20M.
