  1. I'm talking about the evidence that are your posts. Try to keep up.
  2. With so many teams having just about zero percent chance at even making .500, I do think this allows some teams' fans a chance to cheer for something, every now and again. a big part of me doesn't like it, either. The 162 game season is long enough to weed out the bad teams, and a ton of money is already made off those games, too, but it's always about making more and more money. It's the American Way. more, more, more. Big, bigger, biggest.
  3. I guess .630 is no longer a black hole, these days. .600 is the new .700. His .267 BA ranks third on the Yanks, so maybe you have a point.
  4. JD getting the day off. 1. Duran DH 2. Kike CF 3. Devers 3B 4. Bogey SS 5. Verdugo LF 6. Story 2B 7. Cordero RF 8. Vazquez C 9. Dalbec 1B Here is the A's line-up: 1. .246 2. .244 3. .220 4. .247 5. .227 6. .203 7. .230 8. .194 9. .170
  5. Some thoughts on the Yankee offense: 1. 6 of their top 8 players by PAs in 2022 are 30 or older. (8 out of top 12, too.) 5 are 32 or over. (I'd add that Gallo-28- is playing like a 38 year old.) 2. Like many teams, they have their share of black holes in their line-up. PA rank Player OPS 4. Kiner-Falefa .630 8. Hicks .596 9. Gallo .577 11. Higgy .411 12. Marwin .626 13. Andujar .596 3. Like the Sox, the offense is pretty much carried by just 3 big bats: 1.075 Judge .860 Stanton .803 Rizzo 3. Like the Sox, they have 3 players in he 700's: .768 Torres .739 Donaldson .738 LeMahieu 4. Judge has 21 of the team's 79 HRs. Judge, Rizzo (13), Stanton (11) and Torres (10) have 55 of 79 HRs. 5. The Yanks are 6th in runs scored (253)- just behind the Sox (257). They are 10th in BA (.245). The Sox are 2nd at .260. 6. The Yanks are 1st in wRC+ at 118. (Sox are 9th at 109.)
  6. I think when MLB expands to 32 teams, they will go to a 16 team playoffs.
  7. Evidence says otherwise.
  8. Really? I’ve never heard this before. So enlightening!
  9. He can’t help himself. It’s all he’s got.
  10. Speaking of foundations and Deadwood, here's a rough breakdown each GM had when they started: Theo/Port: Foundation: Manny, Nomar, Nixon, VTek, Pedro, Lowe, Wake, Arroyo Farm: HRam, Youk, F Sanchez, Shoppach, de la Rosa Deadwood: Offerman Ben: Foundation: Ortiz, AGon, Pedey, Ellsbury, JD Drew, Youk, Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Buch Farm: Middlebrooks, Kalish, Bogey, Iggy, Barnes, Doubront Deadwood: Crawford, Dice K DD: Foundation: Papi, Manny, Betts, Bogey, Pedey, JBJ, Napoli, ERod, Porcello, Buch, Uehara Farm: Devers, Beni, Moncada, Kopech, Margot, Espinoza, Guerra, Dubon Deadwood: HRam, Pablito & Rusney Bloom: Foundation: Betts, Bogey, Devers, Beni, JBJ, JD, Vaz, ERod, Eovaldi, Barnes, Workman Farm: Casas, Mata, Dalbec, Duran, Houck, Groome, Jimenez, Ward, Lugo, Rafaela Deadwood: Price, Sale Note: I just threw this together. There are probably some omissions and mistakes.

The starters have done better in 20, counting 2 CG's where pen did not pitch.. They did about the same in 8 games. The pen as done okay to well in 35 games. The starters have done okay to well in 34 games. I did not count the "pen game" 7-1 loss to the Rangers.
  12. Tired and worn out, not to mention crude, cliches is the best he's got. Nobody ever accused Yankees fans of being imaginative or insightful.
  13. I don't think Pedey should count. He had a healthy .825 OPS in 2016 under DD. He got hurt under DD's era. He wasn't handed deadwood.
  14. These are not long odds I suggested. There is a good chance Story ends up near .850 and Kike & Dugo end up near .750, but even if just 1 out of these three happen, guys like Vaz, Cordero, Dalbec or others could easily make up for 1 or 2 shortcomings. We're already seeing a big turn-around with many of our early struggling players. Maybe you aunt's balls are blocking your view, but out bats have been waking up for quite some time, now. 1.154 Story in last 81 PAs .930 JBJ in last 47 PAs (.809 in last 88) .900 Vaz in his last 80 PAs .868 Dalbec in his lat 26 PAs .836 Kike in last 70 PAs .779 Cordero in last 32 PAs (also .746 last 91 PAs) .759 Verduo in last 85 PAs, and b efore you poo-poo a .779 OPS, take a look at many of your prized Yankee's OPS., and before you poo-poo a .759 or .779 OPS, take a look at many of your prized Yankee's OPS. .755 Arroyo in his last 35 PAs This isn't just some of the supporting cast waking up, it's literally, all of them. Even Duran is contributing and Plawecki has been at .873 his last 14 PAs.
  15. Although people question just how good the farm foundation was, back then, because many fizzled out, they had enough perceived value to bring back a lot in trades. He was also handed a roster with Betts, Bogey, Devers, Beni, JBJ, ERod, Papi, Porcello, Uehara and others. Yes, he was also handed deadwood like HRam, Pablito & Rusney, but HRam did give him a good season after bombing with Ben.
  16. Yes, I do think the pen is our biggest weakness, but we do have several, and if you look at the breakdown, game-by-game, the pen has done okay in about as many games as the starters, and side-by-side they have pitched better than the starters is ab out as many games as the starters have outpitched the pen. It's a crude comp, but kind of surprising, to me.
  17. It's still less than half the team that make the playoffs, so that does keep MLB apart from other major leagues.
  18. Rich Hill vs Montas
  19. If Story can hit like Story and Kike & Dugo can get over .750 by the end of the year, our offense will not be a reason we don't go anywhere. Then, there are outside chances.... Cordero is for real. Dalbec find the form he found last summer. Vaz stays in the .700's or reaches near .800. JBJ his like 2020. Duran or Arroyo (Casas?) give us a surprise.
  20. So little faith.
  21. But you said you did not think it was "either or." In hindsight, maybe not sign Diekman, but that gets you $4M. Who else do we not sign, so we could sign a solid closer? Are you thinking trade?
  22. So, you think he could have spent a lot more and chose not to?
  23. I think Houck is going to ease into the fire fighter role.
