  1. Welcome back! We missed these insightful posts.
  2. They don’t seem any happier we got something for him, so yes, let’s just let Bogey walk for a comp pick to bring the anger down a half a notch. (This is not meant to be addressed to you.)
  3. If it’s 3 days after a trade, it would be 3 days possibly lost no matter when traded, right?
  4. No. You disallowed time to judge DDs trades.
  5. What’s the combined WAR of Sale, Price, Bogey, JD and Eovaldi? These are our highest paid players, who represent about half our spending budget. Did Bloom sign them? No wait, we can’t talk about the past anymore.
  6. The Casas injury made the Dalbec choice stand out more. The Sale finger injury was the final straw, IMO.
  7. Bloom was given a tight budget in 2020 and 21. Betts and Price would not fit. I just don’t get blaming Bloom for having to trade Betts. There is so many other things to bash him over.
  8. As I recall, most of the CDA's thought the Price aspect of the trade was a net wash. (LOL!)
  9. Don't expect an answer. Thanks for mentioning the Padres offer. I do recall som ething about that, at the time. There was also Graterol or indirectly Maeda aspects of the deal that was made. To go so far overboard on Bloom's role in the Betts/Price deal still baffles me. The 2020 budget disallowed Betts & Price being on it, let alone adding anyone else. To expect Bloom to work a miracle is plainly absurd, but here we see absurdity abound... not as much as radio talk shows, I might add. (Snicker-snicker)
  10. So, his best choice would have been to not accept the Sox GM job.
  11. How convenient. The whole point of judging trades before the prospects have matured and finished their years of team control was mentioned to you, and now that the time is near, you want to shuffle the facts away. (BTW, I was fine with nearly all of what DD did, but I knew we faced the consequences you ignored then, and now blame Bloom for it coming true.)
  12. Also, remember, half of Price's salary dump was part of the Betts deal.
  13. To be fair, it's a justifiable point to claim Bloom could have gotten better than Verdugo, Downs and Wong for a 60 day season of Betts, but I'd like to see some verifiable proof of what else was offered.
  14. Now, it's all about ignoring the past. Seriously, imagine DD trying to build up from the 2019 team with the 2020 and 2021 winter spending budgets. I suppose we could imagine him trading Casas, Rafaela, Bello and others and had a better team than we had, but right off the bat, how could he have reached the 2020 budget with Betts and Price still on the roster? How could he add even more pieces? Does he pick Whitlock on Rule 5? I'm not saying Bloom is beyond criticism or undeserving of it, but ignoring the context or the severity of that context is easier to do for some than others.
  15. Looking at the updated soxprospects rankings, it's interesting so see how many of the top prospects were brought in my Bloom. Here they are: 1. Mayer 4. Yorke 7. Bleis 9. Winckowski (Beni trade) 11. Seabold (w Pivetta in Workman & Hembree trade) 14. Jordan 17. Binelas (w JBJ & Hamilton in Renfroe trade) 18. Wong (Betts trade) 19. Hickey 21. Downs (Betts trade) 24. McDonough 27. German (w Ottavino in trade w NYY) 28. Drohan 29. Kavadas 30. Koss (Aybar trade) others... 32. Chih-Jung Liu 34. Enderso Lira 35. Freili Encarnacion 36. R Hernandez (Mazza & Spring trade) 38. Tyler Uberstine 48. Hamilton (w JBJ & Bineleas in Renfroe trade) Fraymi De Leon Johanfran Garcia Mikey Romero Cutter Coffey Roman Anthony Dalton Rogers Noah Dean Brooks Brannon Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz
  16. So, make sure you give credit where credit is due on the budget and roster/farm status he left for the next GM. No spin, blame or deflections.
  17. Don’t feed the trolls. He will just respond with more falsehoods, made up stats and alternative facts. He even contradicts himself, often in the same post.
  18. On paper, the deals look similar pre hindsight, but in know way does a Duran and some lesser pieces match up with what ended up being given.
  19. I think 95% of Sox fans will not be happy about losing Bogey, including myself. I disliked losing Betts by way more, and would by Devers more, too. I get why we lostBetts and might lose Bogey. It is what it is. Now, do most Sox fans care or even know the difference between losing him for a comp pick or via trade? I’d say probably not, and I get the PR angle and optics of letting Bogey be the one who walks over a trade, but we are talking about degrees of anger, here. The only way I see most fans being a little okay with Bogey bolting is if some team way over pays him, and it seems reasonable we didn’t match it, so maybe that’s the winning PR move. I’m for improving our future, but I realise optics and fan support is part of the business of MLB- the most important in many ways.
  20. No doubt, Bloom has made enough choices to be judged on what he’s done bad and good and the Mehs. Not using any context, however, is not really fair. There are degrees of difficulties. Would the manager of a girls softball team suck if they were beaten by the Yanks? I know that is an extreme example, and I await comments about the ability of Bloom’s team to beat that girl’s team. I know you hate going back to the past and DD, but do you think he’d have been able to build a ring team in Bloom’s winter spending budgets? Sure, he’d have emptied the farm by now, and we’d likely be better, but that’s not what Henry wanted or wants. It’s an unsustainable plan unless you think Henry will just keep increasing the budget as needed. When that happens, then fine, but I doubt it ever will Bloom deserves some bashing. He was hired to find gems on the cheap and has missed more than he’s hit, but he’s not oh for everything, and the roster and farm look much better than 2020, which was Bloom’s baseline. The CDA’s (Cliff Denier Asses) can spin all they want about how useless farms are, but the farm made DD into a winning GM, and not just the guys he traded. It was also the guys Ben and DD did not trade.
  21. Career; ERA+ 126 Castillo 104 Berrios (91 since trade 104 Pivetta since trade FIP 3.79 Castillo 4.04 Berrios (4.14 since trade) 4.13 Pivetta since trade
  22. Sit down, stand down and stand by.
  23. I think Coffee Boy was Ben’s most popular nickname.
  24. Will Sox fans be any happier or complain less doing it this way?
