I did not know about the option, but I've been arguing we have 2 LF-ONLY OF'ers on the team that is in desperate need of a CF/RF'er. Now, we have 3. Maybe we extend Pham and trade Duran & Dudo. Make it 3D: Duran, Dugo & Dalbec!

I read somewhere, a trade of JD would get us under the tax line for '22.

If we paid the full boat, I think several teams would give up a nice return. With no money added, maybe something like what we got for Vaz or a little better.

He got a defensive-minded catcher, who bats lefty, for someone who should have been DFA'd (Diekman). Apparently, McQuire does well with pitchers and has 2 more years of team control, but is out of options. His .646 career OPS is about 50 below Vaz's and 10 below Plawecki's.[/b The Vaz deal may work out well, for us, but it's hard to know, right now. The Pham deal is puzzling, even if we give up nothing. Let's see what Nate & JD net us. I wonder if Strahm has any value. -

The Yanks got better with this and other trades, but their future was hurt. I must have suggested dozens of Montas Trivino trades to the Sox on BTV. I guess it makes more sense for a PED guy to join the Yanks.

Valdez jumped to #12 in BA's midseason rankings- Abreu #21. If the Astros have a similar rated system as ours, their comps might be: Paulino & Jimenez

I suggested we might be buyers and sellers, but I never expected we'd buy a LF rental. The Vaz deal looks like we might have done okay.

Certainly, there were doubts aboutBobby Dee, but with him, Shaw and Casas in the system, I can’t blame Bloom for not adding a 1Bman before May or June.

Good summary, but I don’t think there was much uncertainty at 1B to start 2022. The plan was to start Dalbec who had a .813 career OPS, and if he struggled, Casas would be called up.

Too bad we didn’t resign Perez instead of Paxton. He would have allowed Houck to start the year in the pen and mane the piggyback idea never happens. He might have also kept Whitlock in the pen, all year, too. Had the team still sucked, we could have traded him.

No doubt, and the Paxton deal, done more for ‘23 than ‘22 stands out as the one that limited what he could spend on starters. The real killer of not being able to have 4 of these 5 healthy at all times, with Pivetta, was it took Houck and Whitlock out of the pen. The pen plan has been bashed to no end, but it was really starter depth that did in the pen. IMO, this is not a bad pen: Houck Whitlock Schreiber Strahm Taylor Davis Crawford/Sawamura/Wink or Danish

If we could pry O’Hoppe from the Phillies, I’d be surprised and excited. Maybe we throw money in with the big contracts or take on Kingery’s deal as an offset. Another option might be to add Verdugo or Duran, since I think I read Philly needs an OF’er.
