I can go on and on about the futility of trying to play 2 left fielders at the same time, and truthfully, Dugo probably projects to be a better bet than Ref, but I'm going with my gut on this one. Saying Refsnyder is a better bet of wanting him over any other OF'er we have is not saying I'm "relying" on Ref. I'm not "relying" on any of our current OF'ers going forward. I'm okay with Duran or Verdugo in LF, but I don't think it makes sense to bring both back, next season. My guess is Duran has more trade value, but he also has more team control, so it matters little to me, which one goes. Just do it.

I get that, but expected people who do this for a job to at least have the facts in front of them. These guys were roasting Henry alive. Maybe they didn't live through several decades of ownership incompetence to appreciate just how lucky we are he took over the team. Then, I think, even if these guys have only been Sox fans since 2004, Henry still has more rings than any other owner. I'm calling it beyond absurd. If my position is crazy or over-the-top, then so be it. Listening to these shows did open my eyes to why some posters get all juiced up about the "pulse of Sox Nation" being against current team management.

If anybody really thinks Henry would want Bloom to extend Bogey and Devers and trade 4 top prospects for Soto and extend him is even close to reality, I don't think calling them out is some sort of wild or crazy position to take. I'm not saying I've never had unpopular ideas, and a few that seem crazy to some, but on this issue, it's pure fantasy on the part of several talk show hosts and many fans I've heard over the last month while in New England. On top of living in fantasy world, these guys often got wrong a player's age, years of control, and simple stat lines. One guy here in Maine said he'd pay Othani $70M a year and Soto $50M, and he wasn't joking. (Then, he said he'd sign Othani, because he was just 25.) Seriously, I'm not making this up. Maybe somehow I missed the best hosts and fans. I'm not saying everyone is a fool, but it was beyond absurd, most of what I heard. I really didn't think this was going to spark such a response. I assumed most posters who live in the area year round, already know what I was talking about. Maybe, I just gut unlucky on my listening timing and channel choices. That could be what happened. I'm just giving my opinion on what I heard and provided some specific examples.

Maybe these types of shows bring other entertainment, but they really turned me off. Knowing the sports teams in their area is their jobs, and these guys were getting basic facts wrong, time after time. It's like handing Swi & Stork a show.

Great point. To me, the choice was made not to re-sign Betts before the trade, so the "we could have signed him" is a separate issue from the trade. People seem to only remember the bad trades. Beyond the Betts deal, what about... Nothing for German + Ottavino's contract? Workman & Hembree for Pivetta & Seabold? Not so sure the Beni for Wink + 4 others deal is complete enough to write it off as a loss. The JBJ trade looks like a total cluster, but there is a long shot chance Binelas and even Hamilton end up helping making the deal close to just being bad not horrific.

Many batters almost always take the first pitch to gauge the pitcher's motion, release point and other factors. I don't think they decide to swing at the second pitch before it is released, but sometimes it seems that way.

The hosts were going on and on about how we held onto prospects like Owens and so and so, and how stupid it is for Bloom to hold onto Mayer and others when they can get Soto, and how dumb Henry is for not spending. No mention of how we held onto Devers, Betts, Bogey and other top prospects. No mention of the reality that Henry does not always want to spend large, but he has brought us 4 rings. It has Ben insane, the amount of BS these guys spewed. They also just plain got facts wrong like players ages. Just one example was a host saying Plawecki had 3 more years of team control. They went on and on about it. I had to chuckle about it all. Trust me. The hosts were worse than the worst posters here. Not naming names.

Not really. Saying someone is better than JBJ is like saying a clown could be better. Dugo? Duran? All I'm saying is, as of right now, and this could change by season's end, I have more confidence in Refsnyder for the rest of the year and in 2023 than any other Sox OF'er. Again, that's not saying much.

I've been listening to a lot of sports talk radio shows while in New England, this summer. I can see why a certain poster gets so convince Red Sox nation hates Bloom, Cora, Henry and just about every move made. All I hear is absurd talk that we "should be able to get Soto and keep Bogey & Devers. Here I am thinking too many posters here are unrealistic. Heading back to Texas, tomorrow. We'll be back in time for the Astros series in Houston.

3.60 to 3.00 is significant, but maybe an adjustment period is needed. He does have a .556 OPSA in his last 10 games, but the FIP jumped to 4.46.
