  1. 2. Cora and Bloom should have foreseen the Barnes implosion and had the next Uehara on the closer depth chart, instead of Ottavino. It's all on them. Fire Cora. Fire Bloom. Fire Henry. Let's make the Sox great, again. Back to the 70's, 80's and 90's!
  3. Story got $24.3M x 6, so $25M x 6 sounds about right, to me. Story is a better defender, but his offense was in question due to his home & away splits (.955 to .740.) A look at Bogeys home & away splits kind of nixes that argument, to some extent: .873 Home .757 Away (only .017 better than Story's away split) The Seager and Correa deals seem like outliers. It's always hard to know what one GM might offer, but if we give Bogey $25M x 5 or 6 years and he bolts, I know some will complain and bitch, but I won't blame Henry or Bloom for it. I will wonder why we didn't get more than a comp pick for him, and who made that call.
  4. Might be hard building chemistry when you have a revolving door of about 45 players. Not making excuses. The ball was dropped by many, including at the top.
  5. No. We need to bring back the face, the heart and soul, the leader on a mega deal, because he’s done such a great job turning this team into what it is, today! (Sarcasm alert)
  6. The truth hurts some. Silences others. Inspires trolls to deflect and distract.
  7. Never say nobody. Too many contrarians around. Depends on how much the extensions were for, as well.
  8. It’s a snakebite season. Call it a day and sell the nine.
  9. Welcome back! We missed these insightful posts.
  10. They don’t seem any happier we got something for him, so yes, let’s just let Bogey walk for a comp pick to bring the anger down a half a notch. (This is not meant to be addressed to you.)
  11. If it’s 3 days after a trade, it would be 3 days possibly lost no matter when traded, right?
  12. No. You disallowed time to judge DDs trades.
  13. What’s the combined WAR of Sale, Price, Bogey, JD and Eovaldi? These are our highest paid players, who represent about half our spending budget. Did Bloom sign them? No wait, we can’t talk about the past anymore.
  14. The Casas injury made the Dalbec choice stand out more. The Sale finger injury was the final straw, IMO.
  15. Bloom was given a tight budget in 2020 and 21. Betts and Price would not fit. I just don’t get blaming Bloom for having to trade Betts. There is so many other things to bash him over.
  16. As I recall, most of the CDA's thought the Price aspect of the trade was a net wash. (LOL!)
  17. Don't expect an answer. Thanks for mentioning the Padres offer. I do recall som ething about that, at the time. There was also Graterol or indirectly Maeda aspects of the deal that was made. To go so far overboard on Bloom's role in the Betts/Price deal still baffles me. The 2020 budget disallowed Betts & Price being on it, let alone adding anyone else. To expect Bloom to work a miracle is plainly absurd, but here we see absurdity abound... not as much as radio talk shows, I might add. (Snicker-snicker)
  18. So, his best choice would have been to not accept the Sox GM job.
  19. How convenient. The whole point of judging trades before the prospects have matured and finished their years of team control was mentioned to you, and now that the time is near, you want to shuffle the facts away. (BTW, I was fine with nearly all of what DD did, but I knew we faced the consequences you ignored then, and now blame Bloom for it coming true.)
  20. Also, remember, half of Price's salary dump was part of the Betts deal.
  21. To be fair, it's a justifiable point to claim Bloom could have gotten better than Verdugo, Downs and Wong for a 60 day season of Betts, but I'd like to see some verifiable proof of what else was offered.
  22. Now, it's all about ignoring the past. Seriously, imagine DD trying to build up from the 2019 team with the 2020 and 2021 winter spending budgets. I suppose we could imagine him trading Casas, Rafaela, Bello and others and had a better team than we had, but right off the bat, how could he have reached the 2020 budget with Betts and Price still on the roster? How could he add even more pieces? Does he pick Whitlock on Rule 5? I'm not saying Bloom is beyond criticism or undeserving of it, but ignoring the context or the severity of that context is easier to do for some than others.
  23. Looking at the updated soxprospects rankings, it's interesting so see how many of the top prospects were brought in my Bloom. Here they are: 1. Mayer 4. Yorke 7. Bleis 9.
