  1. Ward had a good night: 5IP 4H 0ER 2BB 5K (2.43 ERA) Abreu walked again! I think that's 105 or 106 on the season (2 Hits, too) Kavadas 3Ks (0-4) down to .723 in AA Mayer's HR and 2-4 brought him to .753, so far.
  2. The shift is not "innovative:" it's just used way more. I agree, it's a stupid move by MLB.
  3. He was so amazing: 10 years leading the league in OPS, and the all time highest career OBP of .482
  4. Almost certain to see these changes... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/09/competition-committee-to-vote-on-proposed-2023-rule-changes-on-friday.html Too bad there is no robo ump vote.
  5. How many Wacha types get offered a QO and how many
  6. A lot of time on that one, too- just spread out more.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. The QO- taken- would help to reset, in 2024, but if Wacha is the real deal, now, keeping him makes a lot of sense. I'm not even sure about offering Nate a QO, but apparently many feel it's a 100% certain. (I'm fine with it, but I'd rather we spend elsewhere.) $10M Kike $18M Wacha $18M Nate That's $46M out of the $70-80 I think we will have to spend, and we haven't done anything to change the team, and we still need a SS, DH, (maybe RF) P, P, P...
  8. It's funny how some don't even want us to offer him one.
  9. I've already answered this, and that's assuming he thinks he can get a $40M/3 offer. Most pitchers have a very high belief in themselves. They would not have made it this far without that. Yes, they listen to their agents- well, most of them do, but if he puts up another good year, he can make much more next winter. Think of it this way, assume he can get a $40M/3 offer. What you are basically saying is he has to think he can't get a $13M/2 offer after 2023's season at $18M is over. Hell, he made $7M/1 after a few pretty "off years" in a row.
  10. The way I see it, JBJ + Binelas for nothing would have still been a bad trade for us- even at the time of the deal. That leaves Hamilton for Renfroe, an even worse deal. It's just bad, bad, bad.
  11. Why not PH Bogey? (I know why.)
  12. I said "per year."
  13. $8M vs 12, okay, not too close, but add what we spent in 2022 for JBJ vs Reenfore's arb cots and we're close to one year of Rusney. (But then you could try to add Renfroe's 2023 arb, assuming we didn't trade him, again, in theory.)
  14. Wrong choice to add to the budget. Like Wacha's $7M was a good choice of spending money. I see your point, though. He didn't guess wrong, but the budget gamble failed just as the skills.production gambles failed.
  15. Yes, and I added a fourth- the budget. (I'm okay with people just thinking it's 3.)
  16. It's almost what Rusney got per year.
  17. For some reason, and Cora is not the only one believing this, a day off means a full day off- no ifs, ands or buts. Like a PH is going to exhaust Devers (or Bogey).
  18. It is most important but that $8M is not irrelevant. $8M is a lot. It might not mean JH will shy away from spending $8M more in 2023, but it might mean he spends $3-6M less than he would have without the JBJ buyout. Maybe all 8, maybe no affect.
  19. 4 fronts- the budget was harmed, too.
  20. Not really. 1. Renfroe has one more arb year. We could have had him in 2023. 2. We pay an $8M buy out for JBJ for '22, and although it does not count on the tax line, it may keep JH from forking over $8M more to Bloom.
  21. If the Twins play .450 v the Yanks going forward, that is regressing to the mean.
  22. Bloom either terribly misguessed JBJ's projected offense or fell in love with Binelas & Hamilton. I also think Cora might have asked they trade Renfroe, due to his lack of defense.
  23. Maybe. The point is, they knew he was bad on defense when they called him up.
  24. You should know about defense before the bigs. To me, they knew. That's why it took so long to call him up. I don't even trust the guy in Fenway's LF.
  25. I doubt any of these guys take a 1 year deal, so yes, if we want to reset in 2024, signing Verlander, Scherzer or Kershaw for $35M x 2 would not work.
