  1. 15 Hits + BB (men on base) 14 outs Only 5 runs
  2. Casas, Ref, McGuire and Almonte have been on base 7 out of 10 times. 5 Hits 2 BBs
  3. The Ed Armbrister no call.
  4. I'm probably in the minority thinking we'll be better, overall, at catcher with McGuire & Wong over Vaz/Plawecki. We should be better at 1B w Casas. DH is not as bad as it sounds: JD vs Dalbec/Hosmer (Arroyo/Pham/Refsnyder/EValdez), but that's because we remember the great JD. Pham is better than Duran & JBJ, and more from ref can't be as bad as they were. Sure, it's not a winning combo, but it's an improvement, and I have to think we add a RF'er, so we are now looking at Pham/Ref as subs not starters, and both are better than Duran/Cordero/Arroyo of 2022 in the 4th OF'er slot. It comes down to replacing Bogey and adding a RF'er. All this means nothing, if we don't significantly add to the pitching staff. Sure, more from Bello, Schreiber, Houck and Whitlock and maybe a boost from German, Kelly or a resurgent Barnes or Taylor can take up some of the slack, but replacing the innings from Wacha, Nate and Hill will not be easy. Bringing Wacha back may go a long way to balancing 2022 and 2023 out, but we still need a big plus beyond maybe staying even with Wacha returning. I still think we trade for a solid SP'er, bring Wacha back and leave the rest of the rotation to what we have in the system. Bello takes Hill's slot and Sale/Paxton might just be counted on as gravy. (Somehow, I get the feeling we add just one SP'er and count on one or both of Sale & Paxton combined to give us 33 starts. Add two solid pen pieces (not expensive ones but better than Diekman.) Make our SS/RF positions combined better than Bogey/JBJ were- somehow, somewhere.
  5. I guess he's so fat, his ankles gave way.
  6. And that is because of poor lower body conditioning? The kid has missed way less time than Judge, and you were taking like Judge was Lou Gehrig. He'll be fine on an 8 year deal. Much better than Judge on a 7 year deal.
  7. We will upgrade at the positions we have the least faith in, but my point is, even the ones we choose to not upgrade will likely upgrade from within the system from 2022 and in some cases, 2021, too.
  8. The 2022 Sox DH's, yes... Both have .750+ splits. Our DH had a .750 OPS, this year, and we have more than Hosmer and Dalbec to rotate at DH: vs RHPs 2022 .967 Wong .793 Casas .732 Refsnyder .723 Arroyo .714 Cordero .711 Pham .619 Hosmer (rare reverse split) vs LHP 2020 1.035 Refsnyder .762 Dalbec .761 Arroyo .741 Pham 2018-2022 vs RHP .783 Hosmer .733 Pham .732 Arroyo .693 Dalbec vs LHP .858 Dalbec .844 Pham .808 Refsnyder .754 Arroyo I still think a rotation at 1B/DH of Casas, Hosmer, Dalbec, Arroyo and Pham/Refsnyder at DH only beats the 2022 JD/Dalbec/Cordero group.
  9. Casas/Hosmer > Dalbec at 1B Dalbec/Hosmer/Arroyo > JD at DH Healthy Story> 2022 Story Healthy Kike > 2022 Kike Refsnyder/Dugo > JBJ in RF Pham/Dugo> Dugo/Duran in CF 2023 SS ???? vs 2023 SS Vaz/Plawecki ???? vs McGuire/Wong (Of course much of this is speculation, but we don't need all to come true, and we will likely add a RF'er and a decent SS, but we already have improved the outlook of several positions, even if just slightly. Pitching: We need to replace Wacha and Strahm Nate & Hill were a wash in 2022, but they will have about 220 IP needing to be replaced. IP/ERA 112/4.81 Hill 100/4.15 Nate But also this... 77/5.47 Crawford 67/5.75 Wink 58/5.86 Brasier 54/5.47 Davis 38/4.23 Diekman 25/5.84 Robles 24/5.55 Ort 16/4.41 Valdez 10/6.10 Familia 7/21.60 DHern More innings from... ? 78/3.41 Whitlock 62/2.18 Schreiber 60/3.15 Houck 53/4.39 Bello 36/3.96 Danish 10/3.60 Bazardo 10/2.79 Kelly (probably more from Crawford & German, too) Sale? Paxton? Offer Wacha a QO Trade for a solid SP Spend the $70M on SS, RF and the pen. The team should be way better than 2022 and look better than 2021, on paper.
  10. No thanks needed.
  11. Oh, the Sox are playing?
  12. That would b e STORK. Jacko comes around often. He was even bashing the Yanks for much of the year on the thread he started about the Yanks. Go look: he posted daily during their worst streak in a long time.
  13. I don't see jacko as a troll or ignorant. He doesn't hide the fact that he is a Yankees fan. He offers an opposing view that is often biased, as many of ours are in the opposite direction.
  14. You know for a fact, this Yankee killer tailed off due to his lower body? Sometimes, you crack me up.
  15. And, if the Mets offer $325M?
  16. We did get better by acquiring a catcher , while getting paid for him (minus Diekman and his salary plus McGuire.) We did add a better 1Bman for free (Hosmer) and a Dalbec/Hosmer DH should hit the .750 our DHs hit, this year. We did add Pham, the RH'd OF bat we craved, all year. We also added prospects (EValdez, WAbreu, MFerguson and Rosier.) We could have done better by selling off more assets, but we did improve for 2023. Yes, we lose Bogey, Wacha and Strahm, but the others (JD, Hill, JBJ, Diekman, Plawecki and the 2022 Nate can all be replaced, evenly or improved, for next to nothing. We have all their money plus Prices to fill Bogey, Wacha, and Strahm's roles. We could use a RF'er over Refsnyder, but even just him and Dugo in RF is better than JBJ. I'm surprised you made usch an "ignorant quote."
  17. I think Dalbec's bat still has some hope. His D not improving, at all, sucks bigtime. He'd make a decent platoon DH, but who looks for that? It's weird he looks better at 3B than 1B, despite all the time he's had to work on 1B skills.
  18. Not only did Dalbec rake in the minors, he walked a lot and had an OBP over .350. Not in the bigs!
  19. That's not great. 60% crossing 140 games. It's probably not even average for good players not benched due to lack of production. It's not as bad as I made it sound, but "ignorant" is a bit strong. With his body type, I'd worry about even reaching 60% going forward. Plus, in 2016, he was called up in August and played 120 games between the minors and majors. He's no Stanton, but he's no Lou Gehrig, either.
  20. How could I forget! Top 3, maybe. Also, pedro's no hits in 6 IP of relief vs the great Indian's offense. (They had scored 8 runs in the first 3 innings.
  21. I was 16 in '75, and I think more emotional than in '78. They both stung like hell. The whole ending to the '78 season that led up to that game made it way more meaningful than a 7 game series in '75, so I think I feel the same way. '86 hurt, too, but not like '75 and '78. How about the most wonderful moment in the last 50 years of Red Sox history that did not lead to a ring? 1. The Dave Henderson HR v the Angels 2. The 1972 season where we finished 1/2 game behind detroit due to a strike induced unbalanced schedule 3. The Fisk HR 4. The Dave henderson HR in the top of the 10th inning of game 6 v the Mets to put the Sox up Write in votes allowed...
  22. I think the first or second team in line would take him, assuming they don't have a roser crunch. Usually, bad teams don't. He still has promise. Unlike posters, GMs do not assign value based on just the previous 300-650 PAs.
  23. I was talkin about the idea that I have been hating on Bogey.
  24. It depends on how MIA evaluates Rafaela & Wikelman and nobody else offers them more. I'm not sure how badly they want to cut A Garcia's salary from their ledger. They may not want Duran or Wink for free. Maybe they want Seabold or someone we think is worth less. You never know. My guess is they'd say no to all these trades. Since Lopez is hitting higher arb costs, I think they'd rather move him.
