  1. I have no problem with you disliking Cora as our manager. Stop overanalyzing (lol). I didn't mean dislike him as a person, silly! You dislike him as a manager, and it's good to see you own up to it, for once. There is hope for you yet. Now, off to bed. The street lights will come on soon.
  2. There you go overanalyzing, again.
  3. That was over a year ago, and I apologized right away. You've brought it up dozens of times, but always leave out the apology part. You have a weekly example, and at times almost daily. BTW, we still know you dislike Cora, although you haven't come out and said it, so maybe I wasn't so wrong, afterall... just maybe.
  4. It's funny how you call being exposed for not know what simple words mean as overanalyzing. Yes, I do misinterpret what others say, too, and gladly correct myself as soon as possible. Occasionally, I make typos, too- mush to your chagrin.
  5. I'm fine with everything said here. I also know I can and will never stop you from strawman building and just plain wrong intrepations of what words mean, but I will continue to point them out as long as you keep doing it, "mush to your chagrin."
  6. The stat and "computer geeks" will still find ways to make a strong influence in the way the game is played via team approaches to defense positioning, batting and pitching.
  7. The Sox probably have Duran 10th to 13th, maybe Brasier, too.
  8. I think his ability to hit well in the minors and his speed is enough for Bloom & Co, to think he has more upside than Downs & Cordero. I'd add Chang and C Hamilton to the list of non pitchers above Duran on the DFA list. My ordered DFA list: 1. DHern 2. Chang 3. J Reed 4. E McGee Below this line, probably have some trade value 5. Dannish 6. Duran 7. Cordero 8. Brasier 9. Hosmer 10. Ort 11. Seabold 12. Downs 13. RHern
  9. Yes, the curveball that comes down right in the heart of the K zone and a batter swings and misses is rarely referred to as a "hanger."
  10. It is possible to get some "eye tests" right, if you watch enough games by just your team. For instance, you can observe that opposing SSs seem to make more spectacular plays on defense, as a whole, compared to Bogey, and rightfully determine Bogey's range is not as good as the norm. You may also determine he makes less errors on sure plays than others, as a whole and then try to weigh the overall ranking of his defense in your head. If you are objective and sharp, maybe you can get it right more than wrong. Comparing Bogey's D to NL shortstops is nearly impossib le, even if you watch 50+ games by NL teams. It comes down to what stats you choose to use your "eye test" on, or what "expert" you choose to believe, and usually they are the ones that confirm your pre-biases. To me, using Fldg % almost exclusively is highly flawed, as is using BA and RBIs as your major stats of choice in placing value and rankings on batters, but it is what many seem to do. I think using DRS and UZR/150 on defense, OPS or wRC+ on batting and fWAR/bWAR for overall value and ranking are vastly better, but it's just my opinion. I've yet to hear a convincing argument to think otherwise.
  11. I never pretend to know it all or project an image where I am always right. I often admit and bring up times I was wrong. I fully realize we are all just stating our subjective points of view and many are flawed- not just mine. Obviously much of what others say rings hollow to you, too. Nobody says you pretend to know what's right, which I think is a noticeable difference between you and me. When I mischaracterize another's opinion, I quickly acknowledge it and apologize. You double and triple down on your alternative facts and misconstrued meanings of words. Feel free to continue to "interpret" meanings that are not even close to being implied, let alone stated. It's one thing you have mastered in life. It's become all too common in our society, these days, so you can and seemingly do take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. There are some things that are facts and beyond opinion, and this is clearly one such thing.
  12. Maybe somebody sees a tweak for Duran and thinks they can "fix him." I'd trade him for someone worth half his BTV value. Throw in Downs, although I have more hope in Downs than Duran. It's easy to find some 2 or 3 for 1 deals that look good for us, but most teams aren't looking to add 2-3 bubble 40 man roster pieces to their bubble list.
  13. The whole "eye test" thing rings hollow to me to a large extent. Nobody watches enough games by all 30 teams to know through observation who is better than others, especially those close in skill levels. When one or two more hits or great defensive plays per week makes a huge difference over a season, it's absurd to think watching 150 games of one player and maybe 0-3 of 15 other players at that position and 5-15 of the other14 players at that position can tell you much of anything. The "eye test" is really viewing the stats or metrics of your choice and having a rough idea of what the norm is in MLB and comparing the perception of what the norm is to the Red Sox player we watch everyday or nearly everyday.
  14. Losing 2 draft picks is likely something Bloom & upper management just can't stomach, at this point in the rebuild, agreed. I'm thinking about who we can sign or add, this winter, that can help us now AND also in 2014 and beyond, when the plan seems to be really start being highly competitive. Same with trading some upper prospects for a team controlled stud pitcher and or decent RF'er. I know we've mentioned the Marlins as the perfect fit, and I'm certain they will make a trade with someone, this winter. They have a SP'er we can certainly use, and I'm super high on Berti for RF. We could take Garcia or Soler as salary dumps, instead of Berti, so we can lessen the return needed to get a SP'er. There seems to be so many workable mix and matches to not be able to find one the Marlins are ok with. I guess it all comes down to who Bloom is willing to part with and whether the Marlins really like Rafaela, Yorke or Wikelman. They may insist in Bleis and Walter or maybe even Mayer, if we get one of their better SP'ers with 4+ years of control.
  15. Looking at just FA options, here is a selected list of possibilities: SP: deGrom, Rodon, Verlander Bassitt, Kershaw, Eovaldi, Wacha, Senga, Taillon, Manaea, Quintana, TAnderson, Syndergaard Kluber, Miley, Stripling, Aflin, RHill RP: Diaz, Kimbrel, Jansen, Rogers, Montero, Fulmer Chafin, C Martin, Green SS T Turner 29, Correa 28, Bogey 30, Swanson 29, T Anderson 30 Andrus 34, Iggy 32, Simmons 33, Didi 33 2B (Story to SS?): Wong 32 Segura 33, A Frazier 30 RF: Judge 31, Nimmo 30 (CF), Haniger 32, Gallo 29 Myers 32, Naquin 32, Fowler 36 LF/DH (Dugo to RF?): Beni 28, Brantley 36 , Duval 33, Pollock 35 McCutchen 36, Mancini 31, Pederson 30, Grossman 33., Profar 30, Pham 35 1B/DH: Rizzo 32, Abreu 36, JBell 30, Belt 35, Vogelbach 30 Gurriel 39, Aguilar 33, CSantana 37 DH only: JD 35, Crus 41, Carpenter 37 C: Contreras 31 Vazquez 31, Narvaez 32, Zunino 32
  16. 99% BA and 1% RBI is all I've ever seen him use beyond his "eye test."
  17. That's why notin predicted the Sox get Gallo not Nimmo. I'd prefer Nimmo and the draft penalties at even $110M/5 .
  18. Bumming out over this WS. We had tickets to see Elton John at Minute Maid Park, this Friday, but it was cancelled due to the WS game.
  19. 1-1 and on to Philly!
  20. 1. I was talking about how likely was the JBJ trade rated. Try to keep up. 2. I never heard anyone say they "loved" the JBJ trade, so again your strawman building continues. 3. Go back to sleep.
  21. Nice try. We all know you are the master strawman builder. Isn't it past your bedtime?
  22. Keep singing your lame lullaby to yourself. We know you can't resist the scarecrow.
  23. You said he "shouldn't."
  24. You just can't stop building strawmen, can you?
  25. None are. How high was a JBJ trade rated?
