  1. We need some east coast affirmative action.
  2. You just need to stop overanalyzing.
  3. So, not really that much of a "lowball?"
  4. Senga has filed his papers to become a FA. Maybe he will be on our radar.
  5. Not that surprising. I did not figure my list mirrors the team’s.
  6. I think MLBTR had us on the list, too.
  7. He had rare reverse splits, this year. BTW, JD was .729 v RHPs, this year.
  8. Phillips had some decent numbers for us- better than DHern by a long shot!
  9. The goal is to choose the slots with the worst in house options to fill first. That involves choosing the select few, I hope, you feel comparatively more secure not upgrading. In theory, yes, let’s upgrade every position we can, but DH was not even close to our weakest 7-8 slots, this year, and it looks like we may be able to keep it close to even, next season, without costing a penny more. We even have guys like EValdez as promising depth for the mix already mentioned.
  10. I remember catching some flack for disparaging that signing. It was the rare two years he got that surprised me. The bigger surprise was the CWS taking on his contract, and the shocker was them giving us McGuire in return! I’m sure analytics was behind us liking McGuire.
  11. I’m all for trying to upgrade DH, but I think other areas are higher priorities. I’m not sure we have the resources to upgrade all 7-8 weak slots, this winter.
  12. That’s pretty close to what we got at DH, this year, and for $20M cheaper.
  13. Agreed, but other than Arroyo, none of these guys hits righties close to Hosmer.
  14. If he only plays vs righties, he’s better than other options we have, right now- the same way Cordero is more defensively versatile than Hosmer and Duran.
  15. He has a K/9 rate among the best in MLB history, but with all the BBS, I’m done hoping he gets his s*** together.
  16. Your posts are most entertaining.
  17. There good reason behind positioning defenders far away from their normal spots. Now, there will be good reasons behind whatever comes next. People used to praise Paul Blair for “playing out of position” and daring batters to hit one over his head. VTek was glorified for having an encyclopaedic brain on opposing batter tendencies. Once the brains became institutionalised, it became an evil needing excising.
  18. Hosmer is free and could provide a decent platoon option at DH and maybe 1B, if Casas flails or gets hurt. I think we keep him until Casas proves he’s for real.
  19. Fair points. Out OF is so weak and shallow, I put Cordero lower, but if we sign on OF’er, he’d shot to near the top. I’m done with DHern. I’m
  20. Words have meaning. Some need context.
  21. Hal been workin' on the night moves.
  22. BTW, did I say you said you disliked Cora as a manager? No, I said you dislike him. It's called inference. You do it all the time, except you are wrong more than right- as in your strawman construction company.
  23. If this sounds like you like him as a manager, I'd hate to see what you write about managers you like: I never would have hired Cora back, and I don’t think he’s as good a manager as some think on here.
  24. Maybe, he's mocking all the bogus Sox fan trade suggestions.
  25. Yes, I apologized for making a wrong conclusion. I said you hated Cora. I was wrong. You don't hate him: you just dislike him as a manager. Where am I continuing being wrong? I'll gladly apologize, if I am still getting it wrong.
