  1. Yes, and the janitors were just banging on the trash cans to get the gunk out of them.
  2. Kinda like why did Nixon break into Dem HQ?
  3. The off season doesn't help on that, either
  4. They are due. Some are arguably inflated instances... 2007 Spygate (Filming the Jets) 2013 IRgate (Falsifying IR Reports) 2015 Deflategate (followed by Brady's non cooperation)
  5. Cause they have a new cheating scandal about the time you start forgetting about the previous one.
  6. The Astros did lose some top draft picks, but that didn't seem to bother them.
  7. I get the feeling all these IL stints are killing Sale. He seems like such a fierce competitor.
  8. Very well said.
  9. There have been several stories on how Altuve did not cheat. (I don't believe them, but...)
  10. I would, but I'd like to see who else we can get for $3M. We got Strahm for that, last year- not that I was wow'd by that signing, at the time. Our other $3M recent signings? Marwin Andriese Sawamura ($3M/2)
  11. The fans down here think they have been overly persecuted. Of course, they think they were singled out and made an example of, but they did do something very extreme and blatant. They think winning, this year, will vindicate their image.
  12. 49 is 11 points below JBJ's OPS+ with the Sox, this season. JBJ had plus D and only lasted 290 PAs with us.
  13. I'd much rather have someone else likely to play all season, but if we sign him for $2M, I won't be upset.
  14. I agree. In terms of fan hatred, they are still paying the price.
  15. Yes, most batters who hit the ball hard more often will get more hits and probably more "productive outs," as well as maybe more GIDPs. All things being equal, like OBP and BA, I'm just saying a guy who might K 220 times, have just 5 productive outs and 5 GIDP is as good or better than someone with 80 Ks, 15 productive outs and 20 GIDPs. Many hit more HRs, so their SLG could be higher and make them better, too. Maybe they have a lower BA but higher SLG. I'm not really a fan of high K batters, but I don't write them off, just because they K a lot. The 2013 Napoli was pretty helpful.
  16. It's amazing how a 49 OPS+ guy can get 522 PAs, like he did, that year.
  17. I don't disagree, but Hill should actually be ready, unlike Paxton and Sale.
  18. They seem to be the model team, now, despite the cheating in 2017.
  19. SP has this as the projected Salem roster for 2023: Rotation RH Luis Perales RH Jedixson Paez RH Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz LH Dalton Rogers LH Noah Dean Pen RH Matt Litwicki RH Luis De La Rosa RH Luis Talavera RH Alex Hoppe RH Caleb Bolden RH Jonathan Brand RH Jose Ramirez RH Christopher Troye RH Henry Núñez Starting 9 C Daniel McElveny 1B Lyonell James 2B Ahbram Liendo 3B Johnfrank Salazar SS Mikey Romero LF Roman Anthony CF Miguel Bleis RF Juan Chacon DH Allan Castro Bench C Matt Donlan C Jonathan Diaz IF Luis Ravelo IF BJ Vela OF Kier Meredith
  20. It's impossible to know when someone will get hurt, but if Hill takes half the pay to pitch half a season, I'm not against the idea- just make sure we have 5-7 healthy starters for opening day.
  21. That's how I see it. It was basically 2 months of Vaz, 1.3 years of Diekman plus prospect Groome for everything we got.
  22. I guess my point is about trying to make a point about batters who K a lot. Many of the batters who have K'd 200+ times in a season still had productive seasons, to some extent, and some had very productive seasons. To me, if a guy gets on base enough times and or drives in enough runs, I don't care how many times he Ks. I think the whole productive out thing is over-rated. Those who K very little might have 5-15 "productive outs" per season but might also have 5-15 GIDP the high K batters have less of. It might be close to a wash. Now, a sucky batter who is on pace for over 200 Ks is usually benched before he reaches 200 Ks.
  23. Javier is the man.
  24. In 2017 Aaron Judge led the league in Ks 208 BBs 127 HRs 52 Runs 128 He had a .422 OBP and 1.049 OPS.
  25. I'd take it with top 30 in BBs.
