  1. Still not a typical BorA$$ move. It was a good extension for the Sox, but we'll only remember the lowball. I'm not defending this lowball or Lester's. They both sucked. We could have signed Bogey to $160M/6 then traded him, if we didn't like his projection.
  2. It looks like 6-7 idiot teams are showing off.
  3. He "let him walk?" Schwarber chose to leave. Oh, and he also traded scraps to get Schwarber, too. Was that a "mistake?" It's so easy to just pick out mistakes. Maybe we sign Schwarber and not Wacha, Hill and Strahm.
  4. Many owners and GM make more than 2 or 3 big mistakes. The fact that all of them have been within 3 years with a Devers calamity pending, I get your point. Many of us saw tough times coming. JH did, too. That's one reason he hired Bloom and set building up the farm and 40 man depth/foundation as the goal (IMO). In that context, none of this should be shocking. Upsetting, maybe, if you don't share the view or think they are overplaying that priority, but JH is still spending big. Since the CC and AGon deals, only Price was mega large and mega long, and that one bit him (and us) in the ass after 2018. On paper, the farm looks much better. It's fair to say "what good is on paper," if we don't use it to win, but I think they are sticking to the long game plan, and in theory, it seems to be the best plan, IMO. Most of the consistently winning teams have strong and deep farms. We have just gotten to or close to that point, and this was supposed to be the winter we could maybe break out and move towards acquiring top quality vs decent quantity. I was all for at least some shift towards that idea. The Story and Yoshida signings kinda fit that shift, and getting two more than decent RP'ers was a must. I'm feeling down, too, but I have not lost hope in "the plan," even if they won't articulate the exact plan to the fanbase. We have $43M to spend- maybe $40M and keep a buffer for the deadline. We need 2-3 key additions and one could be by trade. All is not lost, just yet.
  5. I can't agree, except on the lowball part of the big picture. 2023 expenditures: $90M/5 Yoshida $32M/2 Jansen $17.5M/2 Martin $10M/1 Kike $2M/1 Joely That's $152M and $53.5 AAV. That's Bogey + Nimmo AAV money. We just spent it differently.
  6. I'm being pulled in that direction, but I'm not there, yet. 4 rings and $40M more to spend. Let's see how this all ends up. If we sign Kluber, Andrus and Conforto and trade for Lopez, I'm giving them more time to let the long game play out.
  7. It kind of amazes me they got BorA$$ to allow Bogey to sign that last contract that brought him one year past his controllable years at just $20M.
  8. Nice! Or, Ort, DHern, or maybe Downs, Duran, Dalbec...
  9. With Martin officially added to the 40, we still have Yoshida and Jansen to add. The usual suspects for DFA come to mind, but I have to think Bloom must be looki ng at some sort of 2 or 3 for 1 trade, or we trade someone like Brasier, DHern, Dalbec and/or Downs for a non 40 man prospect.
  10. Enlighten us.
  11. You have to wonder if Henry is content with 4 rings, and it's all about money and trying not to have the team look embarrassingly bad. I've been thinking we were just cycling to the next strong push to glory, and we may still get there. If you look at the strong prospects about to be called up in 1-2 years plus Casas & Bello, maybe JH is just planning to "pounce" in 2024 or 2025- with or without Devers.
  12. $200/8, even after an "off year."
  13. It was about the Mets not messing with crosstown Judge.
  14. I don't even want Dugo in RF. I was just presenting what we have, right now, if Kike moves to 2B or SS.
  15. Correa would take up almost the whole remaining budget, meaning no SP'er unless via trade. I'd like to see Correa, but he might get $380/12. We could afford Swanson + Nate or Kluber. We can afford Andrus, Conforto or Gallo + Kluber. I'm not sure any of these, except maybe Correa & a Devers extension quiets the masses.
  16. Apparently, other GMs are "not learning lessons," either. I'm not trying to shield the Sox top brass from criticism. They deserve it, but what some of these other GMs (and owners) are doing is just plain insane in the brain.
  17. That's what I said in my last sentence. Fans weren't happy before 2021, either. Winning solves a lot of issues. More work needs to be done to make that happen.
  18. BINGO! 100%. Even I have nothing to add.
  19. My bad. My eyes read "owner." That's real close to GM. lol
  20. Most likely. I'm not even sure massive injuries will be a big enough excuse.
  21. I doubt it happens, but... Story hit over 35, twice. Bobby Dee's career Hrs per 650 is over 30 HRs. Both are RHB's. We need another big bat. I agree. We may also need 3-4 bounce backs out 6 I listed.
  22. We said the same thing 5 years ago, but this is gotten more extreme.
  23. In terms of long term planning, it makes total sense to add two bridge players: maybe Andrus at SS and a platoon for Refsnyder. Maybe try to catch lightening in a bottle on a 1 year deal with Conforto. Then, in 2024 Mayer replaces Andrus, and Rafaela replaces Conforto or Kike. I'm not sure the fans will stand for this, though. I think JH realizes we need another splash, and not just a Devers extension, either. While that is essential, it just keeps us even at 3B. Andrus and Conforto might cost $22M, combined. That leaves us enough to sign Nate or Kluber, but I'm not sure that, with a Devers extension is enough to quite the roar. (Maybe JH is not too concerned with the "roar," and thinks we will win, and that will quite the masses.)
  24. I trust the Sox to know when Rafaela is ready. Word is he's a bigtime chaser. I seriously doubt they are planning on him being on the opening day 26 or even thinking about it. We could just sign someone like Kierimaier or Andrus and focus all the other attention on a big RH'd bat (SS/CF/RF or DH- maybe Murphy at C) and a solid SP.
