  1. $13M/1. Compared to other contracts, recently, it's not bad, but we don't need another wing and prayer pitcher.
  2. Kluber and or a trade. Rodon is the next Sale.
  3. To quote another poster, on this site, "Where did I say..." I'm bothered by crybaby fans or that they don't have reason to cry? I'm not sure what the whole Rock is cooking thing is about, but I'm sure it has deep meanings. You got me: I do cry a lot about crybaby fans. I cry about posts lacking context and just plain factually incorrect. Like I said, there are crybaby fans on both sides. I never denied it. It's likely harder to see your own self as crying than when others do it, and I'm sure others see me as crying, at times. Call me out, when I do, if you wish, but I seem to feel like most of the criticism about me is that I'm overly optimistic and try to find the good side of everything Bloom does not that I'm complaining about it. I guess one can say, due to my repeating it over and over, that I have been crying over the fact that 5 years of our farm has only produced only Houck. Yup, You got me. I'm a crybaby, too.
  4. Looking at the list of possible DFA and trade candidates, I can't help but think the bottom of our 40 man roster is as good as it's been since maybe 2019 or before. I know, I know, it's the top that wins, now, but it's been a 3 year process to get it to the point where the choices get hard to make when someone has to go. That's not to say players I did not list (Ort, Brasier, DHern, Dalbec or Hosmer and Seabold or Taylor) are players I'm happy about. I'd like to trade Downs, Duran and a few others, if I didn't think it was selling low, and maybe their stock can rise, again. I'm still not sure why Duran has a 5.9 value on BTV, and I'd probably trade him for 90% of players valued between 3.5 and 5.8, but back to my point. I think we are all set with the quantity part of rebuilding the 40 and maybe almost there on the farm. I can't help but wonder when the big wigs flick the switch to quality over quantity. (I was hoping it started a month ago, but it doesn't look that way.)
  5. Still too long. "Dang" would have been fine.
  6. Who do you cut or trade before them, assuming we add a SS, RF and SP (or more?) We still have Koshida to add and we have 40, now. Add Koshida- DFA/Trade Ort? Add __SS___ DFA/Trade Brasier? Add __RF___ DFA/Trade DHern? Add __SP___ DFA/Trade Hosmer/Dalbec or who? Taylor ? Seabold ? We might add 4-5 more players, not just 3. IMO, one goes.
  7. Dalbec will start collecting massive arb raises soon! Hosmer is free!
  8. I wouldn't call you a crybaby, but feel free to call yourself anything you want, as long as it's not in the 3rd person.
  9. Well, he was the only one they offered a hefty deal close to market value.
  10. It seems the writing is on the wall: Mayer is the SS in 2024 or late '24. Rafaela is the CF'er in 2024 or late 2024/early 2025. That is why we have avoided long term deals for a SS or CF'er. This management group loves defense. Why else would they have traded for JBJ and signed Story over Bogey? It might be why they are dragging feet with Devers.
  11. He's had some very good recent seasons, and was even number one on some defensive metric rankings. Does he think he can improve on that and get more, when he's a year older? I think he wants to strike it rich, now. I've yet to see a 6 year contract with an opt out after one year, but that is all I could see him taking for an opt out. No way will he get more in 3 years, unless the market keeps going nutty.
  12. Again, it's only a blunder if he turns out to be worth what we could have gotten him for or more. This whole "definitely" feeling seems awfully cultish to me. The way we handled it was a blunder, for sure. Agree on that.
  13. That offer was also not their final one, like it was for Story. I totally understand the frustration and anger. I think Bogey is worth more than Story, too, especially with Story's injury, that I did not know was career lasting, when we signed him. I'm totally fine with anyone saying the Sox grossly undervalued Bogey. I happen to think he was worth more than Story but not by a ton, and maybe a ton was what BorA$$ was demanding- it's not like anything BorA$$ demands is so hard to fathom. I'm upset and frustrated, too- more over Betts, Lester and the possibility of losing Devers than with Bogey. I'm okay with people going apeshit over how the whole thing was handled from the time we neared the opt out to now. I agree, they did a horrible job, even if some of the press reports are wrong or exaggerations. They should have handled it better. Whether Bogey should still be here or not, I don't know. I'd like to know what BorA$$ was demanding 24, 12, 6 and 2 months ago, before I weigh in on what side I'll take. If the lowest BorA$$ would go was $200M/8, I'd have no problem with the Sox choosing not to give it, and the spike in top player salaries in the last 2-3 weeks does not change my opinion. If it was $180M/8 or even $170M/6 or 7, I'd be on the fence. If it was $160M/6, I'd be upset. I agree, many were upset with the Story signing, at the time, and even more so when he missed much of the season and saw his OPS drop 100 points. At the time of the signing, and I was working off some faulty reasoning, as I expected Story to be able to play SS, if not in 2022, but surely in 2023. I expected Bogey to be a goner since that day. Even after I heard that he'd be playing 2B and likely would stay there for his contract, I still felt Bogey was a goner. I think his age, his unwillingness to move off SS and his lack of plus defense at a key position like SS were behind us not valuing him like many here did and still do. Call out the nerds and defensive metric freaks on non-shift defense, but I think the Sox pay strong attention to that stuff, whether we like it or not.
  14. You really have no reading comprehension skills at all. There is a large group of Sox fans very angry and complaining, almost all the time. Nobody denies that, even you. You talked about them on all the radio talk shows. What's "to know about" mean? I don't have to know or care what someone is crying about to know they are crying, and besides, I do know what they are crying about. I chose to call them "crybabies" and "crybaby fans" whoopdee-freakin-doo! It has nothing to do with them disagreeing with my position or not. I've told you that over an over, but you don't understand simple English. I even agreed with you that those defending Bloom, often will cry, too. Go ahead and call them crybabies, too. Maybe, it's hyperbole, but it wasn't intentional exaggeration. It sounds to me like crying and even wailing, especially recently. You are crying, right now. It oozes out of this last post.
  15. Yup, and when they signed Story, even when the "market" at that time was lower, they knew Bogey would never accept slightly more than Story's deal. I'm not even sure they'd have paid him $150M/6 the day after signing Story.
  16. Umm, you said it- you provide the proof. That's how it works. Maybe someone said they were tired of hearing about it, but I don't recall it. I'm not sure why it matters, anyway.
  17. I didn't even think DH was higher than 6th or 7th on our highest need area list, either. LF was probably last on the list, but I better be careful being critical of Bloom, else I might upset my cult.
  18. To someone who has a hard time understanding simple English, I can see why you feel this way, like when you said I "don't like Bogey, and his defense either" meant you never said I did not like Bogey.
  19. Agreed. I proved my point.
  20. If Casas struggles vs lefties, then yes, Dalbec is a better fit. It won't bother me, which one they choose to trade.
  21. You keep proving my point, thanks. Say goodnight, Dick.
  22. I have blamed some people for what I felt they deserved to be blamed for. I've also been highly critical of many Bloom moves, and even caught crap for some. I hated the JBJ move. I hated the Diekman signing. I criticized the Richards, Perez and Marwin signings. I have said I expected more of the prospects he traded for to be showing more, by now. I think Bloom was the right guy for the priorities set by his bosses. I think DD was a great choice for what those priorities were at the time. You choose to selectively pick out the times I defend or offer context to the criticism Bloom gets from a few posters, nearly 100%. I can name 10+ times I was very critical of Bloom but how many Bloom bashers can name 10 good things they commented on? Who is the cult, here? Sometimes the shoe fits someone else. When I say something like, "What should be expected from a GM who has a severely limited winter spending budget and 5 years of farm infusions that produced only Houck," I don't think I'm being anybody's agent or apologist. I'm just stating teh facts and the context around what is going on. You see that being a cult. Now, watch your side pile on in approval. Does the shoe fit you and your cult, too? Be objective.
  23. I think we add an OF'er and Yoshida/Dugo take over much of the DH role. Our history of wanting plus D in RF steers me that way.
  24. I think the roster crunch will foce the need to not have so many 1B/DH types on the 40- not because either is worse than Brasier or ____.
  25. Who said stop talking about it?
