  1. I think the gods are punishing jacko for being so mean about the Sox.
  2. We could win our next 12 and be even with the 2018 record.
  3. Mondesi is like the Paxton of middle IF'ers.
  4. If Valdez stick in the line-up and becomes an everyday batter, DH seems to be the best spot for him. For that to happen, Turner would pretty much have to go to 1B, which squeezes Casas before he's really had a chance to prove himself. I guess we could totally give up on middle IF defense and play Valdez/Arroyo at 2B and Kike/Arroyo at SS, but that seems too scary. You can't stick Valdez in LF with the way our OF is playing, right now, and our best defensive OF'er (Kike) playing SS. If it was closer to the trade deadline, one could imagine some sort of trade to move some pieces around, but that just doesn't happen in May.
  5. Some recent additions to the farm... .842 Alfaro (MiLFA) .810 Rosier (Groome) .803 Abreu (Vazquez) .692 Ferguson 12 SBs/.370 OBP .645 E Valdez .916 in MLB 0.00 Bernardino (Waivers) 0.00 MLB 0.87 Denlinger (German) 2.95 S Sharpe (MiLFA) Not so recent (nondraft/IFA): .851 Hamilton (14 SB) (Renfroe) .648 Binelas (Renfroe) .570 Koss (Aybar) 3.21 de la Rosa (Beni)
  6. You mean McGuire, but well said.
  7. The sample size is still rather small, but keep playing the hot hand! He's at .916, now. Duran is up to 1.113! Yoshida is up to .850 and has silenced all the critics, for now.
  8. You crack me up. "The time" has been "now," so many times, I've lost count. Like I've said over and over, Cashman and Boone are the best GM & manger combo the Sox have had in a long time. They never stop helping us look good.
  9. At this point, the only other option, Arroyo, looks like a step up.
  10. Indeed. Very true. I don't hear much talk about overpaying Yoshida or how Duran should never get another chance, either. The suspect, Valdez isn't doing too shabby, so far, either. (Much more to prove, of course.)
  11. They may trade him for the next Dugo, rinse and repeat.
  12. It is sickening to watch an excellent defensive CF'er play like a clown at SS. With 3 SSs on the IL, we have very few options.
  13. Where? Who makes trades in May? We have 3 SSs on the IL, with none due back very soon.
  14. Okay. I just joined. As I fast forward the game and get caught up live, I sometimes join the game thread. It would be nice if Valdez could field a position just average.
  15. Maybe he ends up at DH with Turner moving to 1B, at least on a platoon. vs RHPs 1B Casas DH Turner 2B Valdez vs LHPs 1B Turner DH Valdez 2B Arroyo
  16. The kids keep coming through. To think, some felt Abreu was the better part of the Vaz trade- E Valdez is looking sharp at the plate.
  17. It's only May 1st, and there is a lot of season left to go, but whodathunk our CF position would be #2 in fWAR at 2.1? If the D was better, we'd be 1st by a mile. After Yoshida's slow start, the LF position is near average at 0.3. Verdugo has carried the RF position to 5th best at 1.3. OF: TBR 4.0, BOS 3.3, HOU 3.1, LAA 3.0. Our OF OPS is .890! Other positions: 9th at 3B 0.8 13th Pen 1.0 14th DH 0.2 15th C 0.5 21st SS 0.2 25th 2B -0.2 26th 1B -0.5 28th SP 0.2
  18. It may take Sale less time, as he missed some time after TJS due to other non-arm related injuries. You are right, though, it takes time to get that muscle memory back.
  19. Many blamed restgate or overuse of the starters in 2018, but not replacing Kimbrell and Kelly hurt, too. We also made no moves at the deadline, then had massive budget cuts after 2019. 2018>2019 SP ERA: 3.77> 4.95 SP OPSA .697>.781 RP ERA: 3.72> 4.40 RP OPSA .700>.736 We spent to extend Nate and he started 12 games with a 5.99 ERA. Porcello crapped himself (5.52). 20. Hey, leave us a sliver of hope.
  21. The Year of the 8th Seed. MIA> Bucks FLA> BOS ARK> KAN in NCAA
  22. What a major difference this site shows when we are 1 game over .500 vs 1 game below.
