    It is sickening to watch an excellent defensive CF'er play like a clown at SS. With 3 SSs on the IL, we have very few options.

    The kids keep coming through. To think, some felt Abreu was the better part of the Vaz trade- E Valdez is looking sharp at the plate.

    It's only May 1st, and there is a lot of season left to go, but whodathunk our CF position would be #2 in fWAR at 2.1? If the D was better, we'd be 1st by a mile. After Yoshida's slow start, the LF position is near average at 0.3. Verdugo has carried the RF position to 5th best at 1.3. OF: TBR 4.0, BOS 3.3, HOU 3.1, LAA 3.0. Our OF OPS is .890! Other positions: 9th at 3B 0.8 13th Pen 1.0 14th DH 0.2 15th C 0.5 21st SS 0.2 25th 2B -0.2 26th 1B -0.5 28th SP 0.2

    It may take Sale less time, as he missed some time after TJS due to other non-arm related injuries. You are right, though, it takes time to get that muscle memory back.

    Many blamed restgate or overuse of the starters in 2018, but not replacing Kimbrell and Kelly hurt, too. We also made no moves at the deadline, then had massive budget cuts after 2019. 2018>2019 SP ERA: 3.77> 4.95 SP OPSA .697>.781 RP ERA: 3.72> 4.40 RP OPSA .700>.736 We spent to extend Nate and he started 12 games with a 5.99 ERA. Porcello crapped himself (5.52).     I always feel like we have a good chance to win, when Pivetta starts. I feel better with him starting than Kluber.

    By next "ranking," I meant mid-summer. I thought I said that. I'm looking at their 3 per year rankings, only. I agree, no way Drohan passes Perales in the early May tweak.

    My supposition was, "if this continues." Of course, if Drohan comes back down to earth, and Perales gains better control, it won't happen. Once again, I AM NOT saying I think it will happen. The Perales over Romero was a misclick.

    That was the sign many of us saw that worried us about where the club was heading for the next 3-4 years. They had an incredible foundation built that could have had the window extended, at least one more year.

    I'd add that Verdugo looks for real like the very good player we thought we traded for. Duran might have finally found the approach that works for him. I'm not sure how he improved his defense, so quickly, of if this has just been a lucky streak. Our catchers look to be close to even with the Vaz-Plawecki tandem. I'm still waiting for Bello to put a streak together, but I think he can and will be a big plus for us, this year.

    Agreed, and again, I'm not saying I think it will happen. They also like Drohan's stuff, and he is showing it with results. If he keeps doing so, he will rise. The question is by how much.

    Yup. I think $108M/5 is a great bargain for SEA.

    Perhaps the most puzzling "no spend" winter was the 2018-2019 one. They lost HRam, Kimbrell, Pomeranz and Kelly and added just about nobody. (They kept Nate & Pearce with the money lost.) That was a better "last hurrah" moment.

    Again, I am not saying Drohan will jump Perales, only that it might happen, and nowhere did I say Perales will drop out of the top 10 or even drop. He could stay the same or even rise due to the attrition caused by casas graduating, but Drohan could still pass him. We could see: 1. Mayer 1. Mayer 2. Bleis 3. Rafaela 4. Yorke 5. Mata 6. Drohan 7. Perales 8. Romero 9. Walter

    To me, Drohan's jump was largely based on speculation due to the things you mentioned. Now he is showing it and should get another bump. He can't jump as much as he just did. There are not enough slots ahead of him.
