    You don't have to believe in metrics or think defensive metrics have any value, but there has to be a shred of truth to some of it. As of now, here are the 2023 DRS (Defensive Runs Saved): +70 TOR +28 TBR +27 BAL +22 TEX +18 SEA +1 HOU -26 BOS Add or subtract from actual run differential: +169 TEX +141 TBR +88 HOU +53 BOS +49 BAL -5 BAL Just even out the D, and we have the 4th best run diff in the AL. Don't say it makes little difference.

    While most of the talk has been about the AL East, the AL West now has more teams in the top 6 slots by records than the East. It's a close race for the division crown: 72-54 TEX 72-55 HOU 71-56 SEA The next two teams in the WC race are from the AL East, so there is time for some changes to the top 6.     It wasn’t the errors. It was the non errors. In two straight games we handed them 3 reach on bases in one inning without an error being called.

    Agreed, and IMO, they were pretty bad about calling misdefended plays errors, even before this. This is one area defensive metrics takes a step in the right direction on dinging poor defense, even if not an official "error."

    Dig the hole deeper. Nothing to do with mind reading. It's like me saying we need a better defensive 3Bman and then saying it has nothing to do with the defense of Devers.

    Maybe not totally useless, if you are not looking at first step defense or the like. Often, the TV shows all there is to know about a misplay or a great play. The TV showed me enough, the last two nights to confirm our defense sucks and allows way more runs to score than the "unearned runs" column shows in the stat columns hawked by traditionalists.

    I told you why, long ago. I took your constant bashing of im as "hating." You never used that word, and I said I was sorry for acting like you did say it. It still seems like you do, but I don't know for sure and don't say it. When you suggest we get a little league coach, because what Cora is doing is not even good enough to meet that level, it has a specific meaning in English. It's not misinterpretation. it's either a misstatement by you or a ack of what words mean in English. This isn't the first time you have done this, and then back-pedalled or worse.
