  1. LOL. That still remains the thing many think about most, though (along with the SS choices.) Big winter deals: Yoshida- hit Turner- hit Duvall- mostly a hit Jansen- hit Martin- hit Kluber- miss Bloom hit .833 and he's still a bum, because of Kluber and Mondesi.
  2. Less homers and xbhs.. SLG w RISP .474 in 21 (165 PA) .543 in 22 (180 PA) .388 in 23 (120) It was .698 in '18 (183 PAs) and .568 in 19 (191 PAs)- not a whole lot more PAs. His overall SLG: .455 from '21-'23 .540 from '18-'19 He used to do better w RISP, but now he is not.
  3. Close call. Certainly Whitlock should not, although he did pitch his first MLB IP with us.
  4. Not a hater. lmao
  5. While both Houck and Whitlock may comeback and continue with ERAs in the 5's and FIPs in the 3's, it's not a given, and to me, I think at least one should do better. We won't need 5-6 IP, either. If just one can do what Pivetta is doing, we may squeak in the playoffs. Sale would be an added bonus, but we should not count on 1 more IP from him, We need to trade for a SP, ASAP.
  6. True, but they probably also felt they needed MI depth that was ML ready. Again, I'd have kept Ward over 3-4 players we chose to protect.
  7. It might turn out Strahm was the "one that got away."
  8. We'd be sitting in a WC slot, right now, had we somehow managed to keep Bogey and still add everyone, else (except Kluber & Mondesi.) Those 36 RBI really jump out at me, and I'm not usually one to harp on that stat. Since the start of 2021: 189 rbi in 1662 PAs (394 games) 78 per 162 games about 75 per 650 PAs
  9. Update on recently departed Sox players: Bogey: .740 OPS and 36 RBI in 99 games. JD: after missing some time earlier in the season with back issues, JD will be getting an MRI on his hammy. .872 OPS in 365 PAs Nate: Placed on 15 day IL with forearm strain. Uh-oh! 2.69 ERA/1.011 WHIP Wacha: On IL with shoulder inflammation. 2.84/1.074 Strahm: 63 IP w PHI/ 3.53/1.021 RHill: 4.82/1.474 Vaz: .609 OPS (o.1 bWAR)
  10. You never want players looking ahead at the schedules, but we can... Starting Aug 18, we enter a ball-buster stretch (3@NYY, 4@HOU, 3 LAD, 3 HOU), but let's look at July 31 to Aug 17: BOS: 3@SEA , off, 3 TOR, 3 KCR, 3 DET, 3@WSH TOR: 4 BAL, 3@BOS, 4@CLE, 3CHC, off, 2PHI HOU: 3CLE, 4@NYY, off, 3@BAL, 3 LAA, 3@MIA, off
  11. I'd rather we pass on MI help and go with 2 SP'ers.
  12. Reyes was added after the season started. Mondesi was known to be starting on the IL. The fact that we added SSs after Rule 5, makes it more understandable they protected DHam, not less. I was all for protecting Ward over Brasier and Ort. I was okay with DHam's protection, because I assumed they thought of him as ML depth. He did get called up, but he did not earn a stay. I was just saying what I felt the Sox reasoning was- not that I agreed with them, on this.
  13. We remain 2.5 from the WC slot. AL Standings 64-41 BAL 64-44 TBR (WC1) -1.5 ALE 60-46 TEX 59-47 HOU (TWC2 and -1.0 ALW) 59-47 TOR (TWC2 and -5.5 ALE) 56-49 BOS -2.5 WC3 and -8.0 ALE 55-50 NYY -3.5 WC3 55-51 LAA -4.0 WC3 and -5.0 ALW 54-51 SEA -4.5 WC3 and -5.5 ALW 54-53 MIN Leader ALC (-5.5 WC3) 53-53 CLE -0.5 ALC (-6.0 WC3)
  14. Another tough loss. We've had a few, recently. Losses: 7/30 @SFG 4-3 in 11 innings (2 unearned runs) 7/29 @SFG 3-2 (SFG scored a run in bottom of 9th) 7/21 NYM 5-4 (Crawford let up 4.) 7/19 @OAK 6-5 (Bello's meltdown game- 3 HRs.) 7/18 @OAK 3-0 (Jacques was the opener- 3 runs in 2nd.) 7/15 @CHC 10-4 (Paxton's meltdown game.) 7/4 TEX 6-2 (Pen game) Only 7 losses since June 29th.
  15. We did pick up Reyes and Bernardino after opening day. Bloom is going to make 2-3 trades. My guess is one sell (Duvall) and 2 buys (SP and MIF.)
  16. Montgomery to Rangers!
  17. Many questioned the aged pen duo, Turner, Duvall and Yoshida, too.
  18. Feels locito to me.
  19. I was happy we traded Kike and wanted him Moved off SS the same time as everyone. I just agreed with notin that playing Kike too much at SS was a Cora mistake. Every FT player wants to keep playing everyday. I would be more upset, if Kike was happy being benched. Why not keep bitching about Paxton crying about being demoted to the pen?
  20. That was a legit beef against Cora.
  21. I said I was always fine losing Brasier and Ort. Bloom chose two 2023 options over the future. BTW, someone did snag Brasier. Lol!
  22. Hey! Half his hits are XBHs. 5 of his 14 hits are HRs! Project his numbers to 650 PAs: 35 HRs 119 RBIs To hell with the .163 BA and .209 OBP! LOL
  23. To me: Chang at SS > Arroyo at 2B Chang is a better defender than Arroyo, and playing Chang at SS and Story at 2B improves the D at 2 key positions. Saving Story's arm is another reason. PH'ing for Chang is always an in game option.
  24. As it turned out, we needed a SS slot on the 40- maybe not DHam, but to me, it was never Ward v DHam. I have no beef with Ort and Brasier points. They both were more ML ready and likely to help (and yes hurt, too) in 2023 than Ward.
