  1. I agree: the "best roster" since 2019. The most healthy line-up that I can remember, once Houck returns.
  2. If we are out of it at the deadline, he'd bring back a bigger haul as a rental.
  3. It's not always that easy, anymore, as girls mature much earlier than years ago, and if the Mom says she's 18, I'm thinking, who can you trust? I'm not defending the guy, at all. Just saying...
  4. Story is +0.2, today. fWAR
  5. Sounds reasonable, even if he does not extend.
  6. Boone and Cashman are just what Boston has needed- YES, more and more years for both!
  7. I also think bringing up McGuire;s past as being comparable is pushing bounadaries.
  8. Both are pipe dreams, for sure. I do, however, see a lot of budget space, this coming winter, and to me, not many major holes to fill other than SPs, and we all know how rare it is for us to spend big on FA SP'ers/, except for Price. (I think the Price signing was viewed as a mistake by Sox brass.) I guess we could spend on middle IF, but other than SP, a big splash OF signing could be on the radar. Getting Soto makes going light at 2B more acceptable, and the need for 2 SP'ers might be reduced to one, My dream? Trade for a controllable SP'er we think will be an ace or near an ace for 3+ years. If we did that, we could afford Soto, and I'd be fine with just those two moves, plus some low cost depth signings.
  9. That would probably shut up the Tampa Bay North talk.
  10. Agree, but we do need to win those "extra" 2 games, just to stay 2 GB.
  11. Updated standing with TBR & BAL games pending: 68-52 HOU WC2 66-54 TOR WC3 63-55 SEA -2.0 62-56 BOS -3.0 60-59 NYY -5.5 (1 game from .500) Sox are... -1.0 SEA -3.0 TOR (2 in loss column) -5.0 HOU -8.0 TBR (game pending) -8.5 TEX -11.0 BAL (game pending)
  12. ROYALS Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Sac Fly ties it 6-6. Man on 3rd with 1 out!
  14. SEA trying to hand it back, now.
  15. I'm watching. SEA up 6-5, KCR now at bat in bottom of 9th.
  16. SEA now up 6-5! BUMMER!
  17. SEA scores 4 in 8th to make it a game. Top of 9th, SEA up to bat down 5-4.
  18. MIA best HOU. ATL up 11-2 on fading Yanks. KCR was no-hitting SEA until a single with 2 outs in the 7th. KC up 5-0. TEX up 5-0 on LAA BAL and TBR play late on the left coast.
  19. SEA was one of baseball's hottest teams before losing the last two to BAL, this weekend. They are facing KCR, tonight. Brady Singer just let up a single to Dominic Canzone with 2 outs in the 7th. The first hit by SEA. KCR lead 5-0, as of now. Go Royals!
  20. Exceeding expectations, so far: Duran, Bello, Casas, Crawford, Winckowski, Paxton, Sale (just starting more than 1 game,) Wong, Reyes, Paxton, Yoshida, Turner (although I expected something like this,) Martin, Murphy and Bernardino. Meeting expectations (or close): Jansen, McGuire, Dugo, Arroyo & Chang (gone) and Duvall & Schreiber (despite injuries) Not meeting expectations, so far: Devers, Whitlock, Houck, Kluber, Kike (gone)
  21. Even a strong run at a title, while maintaining a positive long term outlook would go a long way towards restoring fan trust.
  22. Yes, I know. I'm saying I don't think we need to add an OF'er, even if we trade Dugo, but some depth, maybe like bringing Duvall back might be smart. Rolling the dice on rafaela and Abreu as having major roles on the 2024 team is a big gamble. I like both, but we'd need probably insurance.
  23. MLB.com ranks our farm #14- a bit lower than some other rankings. Here is what they wrote: The Red Sox may have the most imbalanced system in the game, heavy on hitters and light on pitchers. Their eight best prospects are all position players, including Top 100 talent in Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela and Kyle Teel, with former Top 100 guys Miguel Bleis and Nick Yorke right behind them. Boston's international scouting department is doing its best to pick up the slack by finding arms such as Wikelman Gonzalez and Luis Perales... Overall, the Red Sox are encouraged by the improvement of their farm system since Chaim Bloom took over as chief baseball officer of the club in October 2019. Here is their top 30 list: Red Sox Top Prospects | MLB.com WWW.MLB.COM The Official Site of Major League Baseball
  24. I might be okay with Refsnyder as the 4th OF'er and Yoshida as the DH and 5th OF'er, and roll the dice, but adding a decent depth OF'er might be smarter.
