  1. Giving an opt out might be how a team snags him. $160/6 with opt out ($26.7M x 6) $130/4, if he does not opt out. ($32.5M x 4) Total: $290/10
  2. The hope in Mondesi might have been one of the most unheralded Bloom blunder of 2023. Hope in Kike was high on that list, too. The fact that both played the same position created a major hole in the team at a very important position.
  3. He had a hamstring injury, bad enough to go on the 60 day early in '23. Two of several possibilities: He never found his groove again. The 960+ PA sample size of '21-'22 was a fluke.
  4. India is the worst or maybe second worst defensive 2Bman in MLB. .727 OPS '22-'23 (97 OPS+) No thanks.
  5. He's young and just has to play like he did "way back" in 2021-2022. .766 OPS (111 OPS+) with a .340 OBP 24 HRs per 650 47 2B+3B per 650 Plus D, according to dWAR How expensive will it be to find a similar profile to this?
  6. MLBTR disagrees with your assessment on his defense: From 2021-22, Urias posted a .244/.340/.426 slash line across 1042 trips to the plate while playing strong defense at shortstop, second base, and third base ...
  7. It's the 25 year old aspect of this target that makes him so unique. He should only get better. I seriously think he is going to get more than MLBTR's projection of $225/9 contract (not counting the $35M posting fee.)
  8. I'm pretty sure Bloom wanted Betts and Bogey on the 26, too.
  9. They project the Woo staff as such: SP: Walter, Drohan, Gambrell, Van Belle, Santos RP: Murphy, Kelly, Robertson, Jacques, Guerrero, Fernandez, Hagenman, Politi, Booser Most IP at WOO in '23: Walter Drohan Bearclaw Mosqueda Faria Politi Booser R Gomez Gudino Murphy Dermody Shugart (All over 40 IP)
  10. It might depend on Drohan and how long Walter, Murphy and others are on the big club vs WOO.
  11. soxprospects.com projects the Sea Dogs to start the season with these top prospects on their roster: 1. Mayer 3. Anthony 5. Teel 8. Wikelman (Plus, I Coffey, Bastardo, Penrod, Hickey) Woo is projected to have: 4. Rafaela 6. Yorke 13. Drohan 15. Walter 16. Meidroth 23. DHam 38. Gambrell (Kelly, Guerrero, Robertson, Meidroth, Scott, Rosier) Maybe Perales, Castro and Monegro cell promoted to AA, at some point in '24.
  12. I'm thinking adding Montgomery and Gray is too much to hope for. Maybe we end up with Montgomery and Seth Lugo.
  13. Makes me think we will be adding a 2Bman, this winter.
  14. Campbell has 2 options. In case anyone was wondering.
  15. Bloom gave up the great Jacob Wallace to get Mills. I'm so bummed.
  16. Probably means we are slotting another one of our pen guys into the rotation. (BTW, the RP'er is another righty.) Sox non tendered Wyatt Mills.
  17. Bloom extended the "best defensive 2Bman in the league," according to Cora.
  18. Do teams use this site for input? No, so why do you have interest in it?
  19. Price and Kimbrell added from 2015 to 2016 made it more promising in my book, but it was close. I was bummed about our FA selections, that winter before 2013. That was a big ding to my personal expectations for the season.
  20. Fair enough. I'd like to see us trade for a younger SP'er, then maybe go for Gray, since he will take a shorter deal. Otherwise, I see us getting Montgomery, who is borderline "big," but after inflation factoring, maybe less than Story cost us. I'm not counting on anything more than maybe something like a Seth Lugo, Duvall and Flaherty.
  21. Yes, VTek and Lowe never came close to what Moyer gave you guys for many many years, unless you count VTek's effect on our staff's ERA.
  22. Is there a dollar amount you don't think we'll go over? Would Snell or Nola be "big?"
  23. I get what you said. It was a questionable choice. To me, the choice was made after 2018, when we did not bring back Kimbrell or Kelly or anyone near their skill levels. As fans, it was a "bad decision," but it's a business, too. JH felt the mega spending had gone on long enough, and was starting to move to the down cycle, IMO. That sucked for us Sox fans, especially losing Betts, but JH has done this before and we came back to win again, so I'm hesitant to say "bad."
  24. That was rather "volatile." Honestly, how would DD have handled 2020 and the offseason before 2021, which also had a rather restrictive winter spending budget? I can see why DD was not viewed as the "right fit."
