This recent trade really helped to balance the team, but I do not think Brez is done. The need for a pitcher to eat some innings is greater now than before the trade, and maybe we trade for a big salary, so it offsets the need for giving up a top prospects- someone like Lugo. I'd still like to see us get a SS, but the 2B need is likely not high on the list, if on the list at all. I don't think this trade makes an Arias trade less likely, but I think we hold onto him, even if we deal for a SS. Catcher is clearly above 2B now. A SP'er is almost a given, even if it's someone like the 2025 Dustin May (eeek) trade. (BTW, he's not doing horribly this year.) I'm not sure about the Neto rumors, of if this trade nullifies our pursuit, but this would be a formidable infield: 1B Contreras (Mead/Romy) 2B Mead (Romy/Seigler) or Durbin (Arias in '27?) SS Neto (Cheng/Monasterio) Arias in '27? 3B Durbin or Mead

While I agree on keeping Durbin at 3B for Mead, my guess is Durbin would be a much needed Vacuum at 2B, too. I see us slotting Mead at 2B or DH with some time at 1B, as we rest Contreras some by DH'ing him here and there. (Willson's suspension did give him a nice break recently.) I think another significant trade involving one or two of our infielders or infield prospects is in the works- perhaps even to add a SS or 2Bman. If we trade Yoshida, who has improved his value over the last 4-5 weeks, then we know Mead's 2026 position will likely be mostly DH. I really like what I'm reading about Mead, especially for 2026, since I was really doubting how much (more) Early could give us down the stretch. His injury might have meant zero. From what I hear, we traded 5 years of Early for 4 years of Mead. We needed offense and got it. Pitching and pitching depth was our strong area and we used it to further balance the roster. It's scary because we have 4 SP'ers on the 60 IL, Suarez still out, others on IP limits and Gray being a free agent-to be. You gotta give to get, and I'm liking this trade the more I read about it.

Some more observations early on in my formulating an opinion on this deal: 1. We can no longer say Brez can't be bold in midseason dealing. 2. This is no Clarke, Wikelman, Aita, Fajardo type trade. It's not even a Harrison or Priester type trade. 3. Early is the most proven good AND young player Brez has traded. (Sale & Verdugo were way more experienced: Fitts was not as good. Teel & Monty had zero experience.) 4. We now have a bit of a logjam that hints at another near future trade.

In no way am I projecting gloom & doom. I think we will play over .550 ball the rest or the way.

They are, but we also need power. My suggestion has been RHB Jeffers to C and BLowe at 2B. Ideally, we get a real SS.

He was really good in his injury-shortened 2023 season, the great '24 season and was pretty good last year. He's still young enough to have another good season or two, but he looks totally lost this year (so far, I hope it is.) It's more than just 1 year.

Let's hope this one hit display by the offense is just a blip.

Hey hey, KC has a 7 game hit streak going, and I think he's like 5 for his last 8 ABs with some walks.

It's great that he can score on plays that nobody else can, and that he's second on the team in RBI over the last month, but even in this past month, he's 12th out of 12 in fWAR, 12th out of 12 in OPS and wRC+.

His defense was at its peak 2 years ago (2024.) He's on pace for a better DRS in 2026 than 2025, but I would say he's better than 2 years ago.

LOL. A two PA hot streak. He did have one nice hot streak, but he has sucked for too much of 2026. .435 in last 7 games. .386 last 13 games. .441 last 41 games. Trying to cherry-pick a good long "recent" stretch is difficult. I found .640 in his last 69 games. I think the best one you can find is this last 2 PA stretch.

That's the thing. He started declining in 2025. I think the point was he was the best from 2024-2025 (combined,) and since guys like Devers weren't here both years, he kinda won the title by default. Only Abreu could compete.

You did more than call him out. You blamed him for losing the game and called it a blunder. Getting picked off a base of dropping a pop up is a blunder- not what he did. Innings later you kept blaming that play, despite what he did to keep us in the game, the implied sole reason we lost. It's okay to say you messed up or didn't mean it that way. You've had it in for Ceddanne since day one, and you actively seek out anything he does badly as some sort of evidence you were and are not wrong. Ceddanne has arrived. He's a good plus player at worst: he's reached stardom at best. The Ceddanne bee has been and remains in your bonnet.

DRS says Neto is more than fine on D. OAA says the opposite.

Suarez is the only guy we have with few questions about 2026 and 2027. Apparently, he'd be active now, if not sick. You forgot Oviedo, who could possibly pitch later this year and could eb a SP'er for 2027- his last year of control. Rivera could be an option. I also see Holobetz, Mullins, Rogers, Ziehl and Paez as possibly being MLB "ready" by 2027, but most cannot be good enough to warrant a promotion, unless we are hit by many injuries. 2027 all healthy rotation options: Crochet, Suarez, Bennett, Tolle, Early Houck, Crawford, Oviedo, Bello, Rivera Eyanson, Wehunt, Holobetz, Ziehl, Paez... (Witherspoon?) That's 10 pitchers with ML experience as SP'ers and maybe 4-5 in the minors that could be helpful. Remember, Tolle and Early were like 9th and 10th on this year's "all healthy" depth chart. Bennet was maybe 11th or 12th. Soxpropsects.com had him listed/projected at AA, pretty much all winter long. Rivera wasn't even on the list.
