    back to the thread topic for a moment....during our hot month long start the forum was buzzing that Cora was the 2nd coming of Stengel and was being put on a pedestal because he pushed all the right buttons and the players had fire & desire. now that we have seen a few weeks of...not so great baseball....bad D, bad situational hitting, the same baserunning blunders over and over and over again....are we still all sucking at the teet of Cora? me? I think he manages like a rookie manager that has zero head coach experience. we have seen some head scratching decisions, some desperate moves, and many a wrong button pushed. perhaps his players are no longer "playing hard for him"?

    Some friends of mine went to Phillies v Mets game on Saturday. They sang the National anthem and then rolled the tarp out. Thanks for paying for parking, food, and beer!

    Sad to see JBj not in vs this righty. At least tonight it’s to get MM into the lineup.... I just drove home through serious tornado warnings in western NJ. That ain’t supposed to be like that

    got it. so you expected manaea to throw another no hitter if JBj was in the lineup instead of Blake Swihart. makes sense. or not.

    barring a surprise....Blake's gone when pedroia comes back. not sure he will be around to help us out later in the season. and why weaken 2 defensive positions to get him in the lineup? they can weaken only 1 (catcher) and actually replace a WORSE bat then JBj's in the lineup......

    no, your arguing with me. and I am on record saying over and over JBj should be in the lineup everyday as a .100 hitter because his D is that important to our team. it isn't "20/20" hindsight. boil it down it is just plain DUMB to weaken 2 defensive positions in a major league baseball game to get Blake Swihart's bat into the lineup.

    right. so that means you sit his D to have Blake Swihart get his AB's. Blake Swihart. because WAR says he is -.4. got it. nunie is -.6 and vaz is -.9 so I guess they will be replaced by Blake Swihart as well.

    I like a knuckleballer in the rotation. when that butterfly is dancing not only does it mow down batters but it can also EFF with their swing for the next day vs traditional pitcher. they can also eat innings as the stress on the arm/elbow is not the same as FB/CB pitchers.

    let's not forget that Blake Swihart also grounded into an inning killing double play with 1st and 2nd 0 outs. JBj K's there and it's still 1st & 2nd 1 out. to hurt our D in 2 positions to get Blake Swiharts bat into the lineup is negligent.

    100% true. I am using this thread to point out the individual games that I believe Cora made an error. other posters may not agree with some/any of them and conversely may have issues with cora in-game decisions for other games that I don't deem wrong. I can only use this space to share what I believe. and for me last night wasn't a case of it being JBj's scheduled day off. it was a case of benching elite defense to get blake swihart 3 or 4 AB's.....and in this particular game last night it probably cost us a W.

    here's a whacky thought....when a pitcher doesn't have his best stuff its probably a really excellent time to have your BEST DEFENSE on the field. defense can get a pitcher off the hook. or maybe you only care about batting average. when JBj catches that triple it changes the entire game. that's why in certain instances the defense a player can offer you is FAR more important than his .170 batting average. and that defense was pulled - for blake swihart. not for JDM, not for Mitchy two bags, not for HanRam, not even for Holt. for blake swihart. let that sink in.

    I am also on record saying he should be our starting CFer batting .100. so there is no hook for me to let him off of. his defense is that important. and it was proven again last night.

    14-May-2018 Cora blows another game for the Sox. not having JBj in CF for this game absolutely cost us this game. the RBI "triple" that Beni butchered would have been an automatic out with JBj in CF. and I would almost understand if the reason that JBj was not starting in this game was because they wanted to get MM in the lineup. but that wasn't the case. nope. our rookie manager sacrificed an all star defense OF so that he could get.....Blake Swihart....into the lineup. terrible decision that cost the Red Sox a win and knocked us into 2nd place. cora pushing a lot of "wrong" buttons lately.......
