  6. back injuries are definitely a concern. some debilitating back injuries are even mental. either mental or physical they are very hard to predict when they will "heal" or when they will crop up again. if this is a permanent on and off issue with verdugo then this trade has to be considered "Sox got hosed".....
  7. As for the Astros’ trash-can banging scheme, outfielder Josh Reddick says it simply could provide a pick-me-up at a point a hitter is struggling through the eight-month grind that comes with winning a World Series. “I guess it could go back to the way I was feeling that day, if I was struggling or a tough lefty that I didn’t like facing,” says Reddick, a career .263 hitter who batted a career-best .314 that season. “You pick your poison. “It was a good year for me so I know how that’s going to come off looking.”
  8. “It was definitely an advantage,” shortstop Carlos Correa said in the team’s clubhouse on the first day pitchers and catchers worked out at spring training. “I’m not going to lie to you, knowing what was coming, you get a slight edge. And that’s why people got suspended and people got fired, because it’s not right to do that.”
  9. Among the most oft-used clips to demonstrate the possible use of wearable devices was was footage of Altuve seeming to ask his teammates not to rip his jersey off following his walk-off homer against the New York Yankees in Game 6 of the 2019 ALCS that sent the team to the World Series. (Altuve, through his agent Scott Boras, has previously denied the claim.) Chapman was asked about the possibility at Yankees camp Thursday. "I've seen that video — a lot of people have seen that video; it's a popular video right now," he said, per ESPN. "And yeah, if you look at his actions, they look a little suspicious. At the end of the day, I just don't know. I can't tell you if he had the sign or didn't have the sign -- I don't know. That's a good question for him, and for those guys. I just don't know." Altuve had a response: "I’ve done that multiple times. That doesn’t mean I have a buzzer. MLB did their investigation and they didn’t find anything. They found what they found. In 2017, they did a really good investigation. They did an investigation on the buzzer and didn’t find anything. "When you say you don’t believe I didn’t have a buzzer, you don’t believe in what MLB investigates."
  10. "No. No. That's a lie. Nobody wore a buzzer. Nobody wore devices," Correa told reporters. "The story should be killed already because we know for sure, we are 100 percent (sure) as a team. ... It's just straight-up false. 2018, nothing. 2019, nothing. 2017 nobody wore devices either. It was just what was in the report." "Absolutely not," outfielder George Springer said. "Absolutely not." Said former Cy Young winner and Astros ace Justin Verlander: “I see these guys before the game, after the game, dressing and undressing, and I never saw anything like that.” And Josh Reddick's response to the same question: "No. Not to my knowledge."
  11. lol...no. but take note this season how many times a game a batter steps out of the box after the ump makes a call he doesnt like to shake his head, mumble something, make a stupid point. it happens alot....
  12. once the MLB goes to Robot Umps the average gametime will fall below 3 hours.
  13. yes, please tell him pitching, pitching, pitching. and Farm. thanks! he will know it's me by the pitching x 3..........
  14. 50 dollars more then the highest bidder (i always like putting the players number at the end of the figure). 12 / $400,000,050
  15. the first part of this sentence conflicts with the second part. from the dictionary: Cheat: act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination. of COURSE knowing when an offspeed or FB is coming will influence the outcome of a baseball game. houston owner can suck a giant D.
  16. Fair. i was thinking career.
  17. i dont know man. only BB knows. and i'm still mad at him for sitting a certain DB for the entire super bowl vs the eagles. TB12 should have 7 rings already.
  18. i agree. i have a feeling notin didnt mean it as harsh as it came across typed but he can address that. as for stars leading to parades...when it comes to position players i will politely disagree. in fact, i am on record stating that the 2018 Boston Red Sox would still have had a parade if Mookie Betts didn't even exist.
  19. this statement is simply not true.
  20. yup. fans will also try and predict what FO will do. that doesnt mean that we would do the same thing. (DD decimating the Farm for instance or JH resetting the LT).
  21. ^^^^
  22. The most comical scene Wednesday surrounded infield prospect Jeter Downs, acquired from the Dodgers, who became an overnight fan favorite and media darling, named after a certain Yankee icon who’s going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July. “Hey Jeter!’’ one fan yelled. “You’re better than Derek!’’ If nothing else, one day, there really will be a Jeter cheered at Fenway Park. “You get bombarded with this whole name thing,’’ said Downs, who grew up a Yankee fan with his father a Red Sox fan. “It’s pretty cool to be traded for arguably a top-five player in the game. I guess my mom knew what she was doing when she named me Jeter. She just liked how he was, the way he played the game, so she gave me the name. “I obviously have the name, so I know of had to be a fan of his.’’
