  1. Good point. I guess JD Drew should've been more popular then? LOL Or to another era... 25 players, 25 cabs.
  2. Sometimes... I actually think some of us fans do. This goes for fans of any team really. We only have one view point from 50,000 feet, but it's definitely a view point and it's one where you can usually see the big picture if you look hard enough.
  3. "As I recall, I was all alone the first time I brought it up." Naw, I was all for trading him in the offseason coming off his AS appearance when his stock was sky high ( on BDC).
  4. ugh... I still like Ells, but... so much money. I still have the vision of him stealing home vs Pettitte(?) god knows when.
  5. Moreland should be fine. I'm just greedy for offense Moon.
  6. Ha! "Bigly". Nice;)... Here's one: "I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it"
  7. Really? I'm kind of excited about who fills out the rest of the rotation. In fact, with Price out for the first month, at least we have the opportunity for two guys to win the job by performance and not anything else.
  8. You mean if Moreland wasn't signed? Because that's what I was referring to.
  9. It's just that I'm not that worried about it. If his shoulder was that bad he wouldn't be playing at all.
  10. Is that for me? Bud, I've read all there is to know on the topic. I'm fully aware of it.
  11. And to think... there's only 4-5 more seasons of this thread left to go.
  12. His shoulder was good enough to swing the bat all game. Plus, I don't remember seeing Moreland throw anything yesterday, besides throwing back to the mound. Am I wrong to suspect, if not for Moreland, HanRam would've played 1B yesterday, and the odds of him having to over exert his non-100% healthy throwing shoulder would've been minimal to non-existent? I guess there could've been a play at the plate, or a run down. There wasn't. But it could've happened, I guess. My point was that regarding signing Gomez over Moreland, at the time HanRam's shoulder wasn't a question.
  13. Then again, we've been burnt quite often with the likes of Craig. I'm thinking of the times we haven't been burnt.... like Lowell. Fair enough.
  14. Well, Hanram's minor shoulder issue is after the fact of course. I doubt that he couldn't play 1B, say... yesterday by any means. But I digress. Moreland of course is the safer bet and less $ ( noting $11.5M - $5.5M = $6M ), but who's also coming off a disappointing year. It's a toss up for me. But I'd have still leaned Gomez (over Moreland), unless it got to some kind of a bidding war ( $13M would've been my limit ).
  15. I understand, but a year when we all knew Papi was retiring... that's a situation to gamble and take a chance in my opinion. It wouldn't have been a huge gamble money wise. Wouldn't have been much of a risk at all. A team full of gambles isn't ideal, but one here and there shouldn't be detrimental. When CarGo is on, he's really on. There was just as much of a chance of .830-.840. HanRam 1B (just like last season), CarGo DH (more OF depth if injuries happen... and they do), still room for Young vs LHP and to spell whoever. If Young or Gomez both caught fire with great first halves, there'd be a chance to trade one of them for some relief help mid-season...
  16. Yeah, I would've went with JBJ, Leon, or Panda in the 5th slot. Panda would be interesting in that spot, but JBJ #5 then XB #6 would make the most sense to me anyway.
  17. f***in' knew we should've given Carlos Gomez a shot last year on the cheap.
  18. Perfect bunt by Leon against the shift. It's usually been Mookie Time on opening day, but Beni came up big today. JBJ important on both sides of the ball. Sale Wed.
  19. Don't know if I'm that thrilled with Moreland batting 5th. I hope Farrell keeps making some adjustments. Good game today and nice win. Great start.
  20. !
  21. No, Manny somehow sneaks into the clubhouse and does it. Afterwards, everyone just shakes their collective head dismissively and says "Meh, that's just Manny being Manny, ya' know".
  22. right. yeah I don't think Kimbrel will notch 60 saves. LOL
  23. I happen to think there will be more close game wins this year than last year. 60-65 sounds about right.
