  1. Not so. Over the past 15 games the Sox have scored 110 runs, 7.3 runs per game. Today, granted, not so much.
  2. Of course. He was great in 2016, the year the Cubs finally won the WS.
  3. Well, I suppose the good news today is that after the 1st inning it's been a 1-1 tie through 7 innings. I think the Sox lineup works better with Narvaez dropped down to about 8th in the batting order. Hah! Yoshida just struck pinch-hitting for Narvaez.
  4. We know for a fact that it bounced inbounds but landed out of bounds. The question is whether it was fair when it passed over 3b. I think the home plate umpire called it right because it landed just beyond 3b and therefore probably was out as it passed over 3b.
  5. Meh. I think a case can be made for Duran despite those stats. His speed is still ridiculous. I think his so-so fielding days are over even though his throw home was on the wrong side of home plate. He's 4th on the Sox in rbi's. And, believe it or not, he leads the Sox in total bases with 172. Rafaela is 2d with 153. My guess is he has a lot more fan appeal than Abreu.
  6. You're so clairvoyant. And modest too. As I said on page 1, the Cubs win 2 of 3 games at Wrigley and the Sox have a losing record on the road. We should have been dead, dead, dead after that 1st inning 3 run dinger. But Giolito righted himself until the 6th when Weissert did him no favors.
  7. Abreu has a higher OPS and higher WAR than Duran, leads the Sox in dingers with 18, and is a better outfielder. Duran has 103 K's to Abreu's 71 going into this game.
  8. On the other hand, you can make another argument that Wong could not have prevented the 3 runs in the 1st and that Narvaez has done well with Giolito over the next 4 innings. Thielbar made mincemeat of of Abreu and Mayer in the 6th. Story with the popup wasn't much better.
  9. I'm going to say it. I think today Wong would have done better than Narvaez. That does not mean I would have started Wong because Narvaez is the main man behind the plate. But I say it for 2 reasons. First, of course, no catcher interference. Second is that Wong would have batted 8th or 9th and done less harm than Narvaez batting 4th. Giolito just saved Narvaez's miserable ass!
  10. Narvaez egregious error. Not the the throw to 2b, but catcher interference on an 0-2 count.
  11. Narvaez partially redeemed Toro by hitting a perfect GIDP ball with 2 outs. Had Toro stayed at 2b, the inning would have ended with a GIDP.
  12. He was great in May but has slid backwards since--.961 to .780 in June to .701 in July. In this lineup he has no business batting 4th
  13. Probably, but ahead of him were Duran, Rafaela, and Abreu. Great, gutsy grab by Duran!!!
  14. Giolito: 3 up, 3 down in the 2d with 2 K's. He needed 30 pitches in the 1st, 10 in the 2d. Bregman opposite field single--good at bat. Duran to 3d of course. Walking him was stupid.
  15. The first five OPS's in the Cubs lineup are .927, .884, .878, .852, and .894.
  16. The Cubs win 2 out 3 games at Wrigley, and the Sox have a losing record on the road. The Cubs GG leftfielder had a problem with the sun. Agree completely Giolito's 2 BB's to start things off were inexcusable.
  17. Bottom of the 1st. Giolito gives up 3 run dinger and needs 30 pitches. 3d out was a drive almost into the ivy but caught by Rafaela.
  18. Top of the 1st, Sox look very rusty at the plate--but, I have to honest here, Rea looks very sharp on pitch location and pitch variety.
