  1. I heard that before.
  2. Wow. Just wow. Six scoreless innings on 79 pitches. Today Pom is on his game. And you can bet the Astros want to win to keep a shot at the home field advantage should they get to the ALCS. Assuming we win--still need 9 big outs--it's us vs. these guys, best out of 5. Clearly our first two starters have to be Sale and Pom. After that I'm not sure. I like Fister because, unlike ERod and Porcello, he is a pitcher and not a thrower.
  3. We need 12 big outs--make that 11 big outs--against a good hitting team.
  4. Astros pitching got some more calls, but our guys got the runs. Well done, lineup. Also pretty good D so far. Ain't that nice?
  5. Killer b's back--for now. Plus big hits from HanRam and Devers.
  6. 3-0 with 2 on and 1 out in the bottom of the 5th. Still a long way to go, but that lead sure is nice, especially with Pom pitching so well.
  7. Great fifth by Pom. Cool as a cucumber after that walk. Could go 7.
  8. Looks like the knuckle curve came back. OK, long wait for Pom. Hope he's ready for the 5th.
  9. Great rally, but an incredibly stupid at bat by Vazquez who should have waited for the fastball because the knuckle curves were going in the dirt. That's how Han Ram and Devers got their hits--looking for the fast ball.
  10. Just so everyone knows--I am a major complainer about Pom, almost incessantly so. But I ain't blind. He is in fact pitching well. Nothing lucky about those first 4 innings.
  11. Pom is pitching great so far. 58 pitches in 4 innings, so he should go 6. Time for the lineup to man up.
  12. Meh. That called fast ball strike was outside and that knuckle curve is like a slider on steroids--it goes 87 mph and breaks sharply down and away.
  13. Finally, a call for Pom. Ump has no idea where the outside of the plate is. Actually, the inside too for that matter.
  14. My gosh. The ump won't call strikes inside the zone for Pom, but is happy calling them outside the zone for McCullers. I am not talking about pitches on the line. The strike was a couple inches outside and the two balls were both 2 inches inside.
  15. That darn knuckle curve by McCullers is going 87 mph. No wonder it works so well. First hit is by Holt. Go figure.
  16. I beg to differ. He's pitched great so far. The knuckle curve is mostly working and the fast ball is spotted well most of the time. The umpire has now screwed him on two K's--not just strikes not called, but K's which should have happened.
  17. Ump has not screwed Pom twice on good strikes called ball. They were not marginal calls. ********.
  18. That's our Pom. Never, ever ready on a grounder to the right because his pitching motion takes him to his right and away from the ball.
  19. Terrible call by the HP ump--screwed Pom on a nice fastball which was on the inside corner right in front of the ump's vision. Thus no excuse.
  20. Temp is 57 degrees. Football weather.
  21. Devers looked very foolish on two knuckle curves in the dirt. So far McCullers is just skating along without a care in the world. Everything is working.
  22. HanRam swung at the right pitch, but not solidly. Moreland grounds out on the knuckle curve. Looks like last night when we were hitless first time through the order.
  23. Cleveland still up 1 game on the Astros going into today.
  24. So far Pom is riding the knuckle curve for all it is worth. 2 innings, 24 pitches to get through Astros first hitters.
