  1. Sadly prophetic. Big home crowd sure hasn't helped.
  2. I prefer to think not, but am afraid you could be right. Today the defense has hurt Sale, not helped. But still . .
  3. I could be wrong, but I think Shoemaker is getting a bigger strike zone.
  4. The one today looks like the correct call.
  5. First Vazquez is out by a mile stealing 2b, now he drops a pitch and the runner advances.
  6. Now that I believe, that big contracts are the kiss of death, but I think Sale is too professional for that. I think most big and especially long-term contracts are for what the player has already done, not what he will do.
  7. Shoemaker is getting a really nice strike zone.
  8. Meh. Three singles--one of which should have been a GIDP (but Pedey was out of position)--and a sac fly. I am a far cry from giving up on Sale.
  9. Maybe you did--because I think Pedey had a GIDP but was out of position faking a move to 2B.
  10. Nice by Devers. 3d out.
  11. Game tied. Three singles and sac fly for 2 runs. I still think Pedey faked going to 2b when he should have stayed home.
  12. Did I just see Pedey go to his right on the pitch and the batter hit a perfect GIDP to where Pedey had been?
  13. I'm pretty sure I saw 8 righty bats and 1 lefty in the Jays lineup.
  14. Several at 91, several at 93, 1 at 95.
  15. Shoemaker's splitter is a pretty good pitch.
  16. Shoemaker, Shoemaker--what was ST for in not to get reacquainted with the fundamentals? One more thing I like about Sale is he believes in getting those right. For him covering 1b on a grounder to the right is as big a deal as a great fast ball. With Pomeranz it was kind of optional.
  17. Well, just disregard gameday then. I read it here on talksox that Sale's arm and shoulder are so weak he asked permission to switch to underhanded.
  18. Ahem. Was that a 95 mph fast ball for the K? It sure as heck wasn't a slider.
  19. Love that change, but it missed.
  20. Ok, I just picked up on another Sale bad habit. So, not only is he not getting enough K's, he's also not shaking off any pitches. Warm up the bullpen.
  21. Interesting. Toronto hitter looks like Nanook of the North, and Sale's in short sleeves.
  22. Perhaps, but I think that was the first run Shoemaker has given up this season. Fastball, slider, and splitter are a pretty good repertoire.
  23. Looks like a big strike zone for Shoemaker. Sale also? Anyone? Anyone?
  24. Very, very discouraging top of the 1st inning. I've been reading a lot of game threads and other threads about Sale and have learned that he must throw hard and get strikeouts to be effective. Ground outs and fly outs are sure signs of weakness, and who the heck cares he only only needed 12 pitches? Let's hope he gets better in the 2d.
  25. Remy, Eckersley, and O'Brian in the booth. Super. But sound is off because I'm at the office.
