Well, we can all take comfort in the fact that it's not whether you win or lose or even how you play the game. What's important for the 2021 Sox is demonstrating solidarity with the Boston Marathoners in their lovely yellow jerseys and blue shorts.
Lackadaisical infield defense has not helped. White Sox infield, on the other hand, is crisp, the polar opposite of Bogaerts and Devers who always seem to be waiting for Godot before, you know, oh, yeah, making a throw.
Exactly. The hitting has been way, way better than expected. OPS and runs scored are in top three teams in MLB.
The only thing bad about this team is the defense by the position players.
Fox does I think one game a week, and it's always Saturday at 4 pm. In the past that basically meant you could watch no other game if it was played at 4 pm on Saturday.
No, I did not mean this game was moved to 4 pm to allow the snow to melt.
Meh. The ones we win are the most fun to discuss. This was a great win from top to bottom, except for that decision, which I'm afraid will cost us tomorrow. I suspect that what happened was Barnes warmed up when the score was 4-3 and another guy didn't have time to get really warm when the margin became 7-3.
The good thing about this team this year is that time and again the least likely guys come thru. Every game seems to have one or more surprises--like opening that box of chocolates.
Not nitpicking when the tying run by Chicago was unearned. I also think Cora erred in sending Barnes out to pitch the 9th with a 4 run lead, now a 3 run lead.
Very few people your age watch a Sox game with your devotion. So, if you want dog races and/or midgets pinch hitting, I'm for 'em. When I was about 10 years older than you I had an uncle who was about 55, lived in the Boston suburbs (W. Newton) and did not miss a Sox game--or inning, for that matter--on TV. I thought he was nuts.
Flashy uniforms, dog races, midgets pinch-hitting, fireworks, etc are what Bill Veeck used to bring fans in. But what keeps them coming back is how well the game is played, which means winning.
Nice rbi by Verdugo, nice at bat.
