  1. Great play by Hernandez! Vazquez, get into the game.
  2. Great slider by Pivetta! Why oh why did Vazquez call for a waist high fastball on the first pitch to Guerrero? On top of which, he drops a pop up, then calls for another waist high fastball which gets nailed.
  3. Recently it seems as though every game begins with our starter unable to get outs without runs and the other team's starter looking like--today, anyway--Sandy Koufax. Matz is a far, far cry from Koufax, but to the Sox he's not. Another thing. Opposing pitchers routinely throw that high fastball with a 2 strike count, and our guys swing and miss. Our pitchers don't do that very often.
  4. Games won as of June 12 Tampa Bay Rays...40 Boston Red Sox....39 ChiSox................39 San Francisco......39 LA Dodgers.........38 Oakland Athletics.38 San Diego Padres.37 Chicago Cubs......36 Houston Astros....36 Milwaukee Brewers36
  5. Back to back incredible comebacks and wins. MVP78's magic touch.
  6. Sox have 3 hits--2 by Verdugo and 1 by Dalbec.
  7. Changeup suddenly less devilish. Verdugo and JDM both hit it hard, one for a double and one close to a double.
  8. Agree completely. And Vazquez called for it.
  9. So maybe Cora owns that 2 run dinger. He could have left Richards in, and he could have given Guerrero a pass.
  10. If Richards gets thru the 6th unscathed, this will be a quality start. Alas, Cora has taken charge, not because he thinks Richards has lost it, but because JH called him up and said the Jays were about to destroy the green monster with all those singles and doubles. Cost of repairs exceed the benefit of letting Richards go for his QS.
  11. That doggone changeup by Stripling is the devil.
  12. Stopper, shmopper. We came into this season knowing there would be no "stopper." The hope is that Sale will return and resume that role. Meanwhile, Cora has his work cut out for him.
  13. They won 3 of 3 against a lousy hitting Yankees team (with not great starters) and lost 5 of 7 vs. a very good hitting Astros team. And took 1 from Miami. The Jays currently rank 8th in MLB in runs scored and played just 63 games. And Richards just went 5 innings, giving up just 3. He did, however, look absolutely awful in the first 2 innings, but sort of recovered.
  14. Stripling does mix his pitches and does have pretty good command.
  15. Hard hit, but right at the CFer. I like first pitch swings even though the downside can be a starter who goes 9 innings.
  16. Stripling screwed, but Richards was too a few times.
  17. And a little child, a 6'5" rookie, shall lead them. Dalbec swings at the exact same middle of the zone fastball that Vazquez sneered at and gets a dinger.
  18. So far the Sox "hitters" look like clowns.
  19. Perfect at bat by Vazquez. Takes a fast ball down the middle, swings at one over his head.
  20. Stripling, meanwhile, makes it look oh so easy.
  21. Taylor gets a break, but he's thrown 64 pitches in 2 innings, given up 3 runs (could have been more), and can't control his breaking stuff or, too often, his fastball either.
  22. Slider in the middle of the zone works as well as a a fast ball in the middle.
  23. Well, at least it was Guerrero who walked.
  24. Richard is so lucky to have given up just 2 runs. He can only throw strikes with his fastball, and some of those end up in the very hittable middle of the zone. The slider and curve are only for when he wants to get a wild pitch or PB.
  25. That 3d pitch curve bounced into the strike zone.
