  1. Eros threw 66% strikes, which is about par. He nibbles because he doesn’t have good stuff, especially breaking balls.
  2. Also, hats off to moonslav for starting these last 2 game threads. I am back on the bandwagon wherever it goes. This is an exciting season.
  3. I believe in CERA and have been down on Vazquez, but no longer, not after last night and not tonight. This is on Eduardo.
  4. Manny loved hitting, but was an indifferent outfielder. "Manny being Manny" is as memorable as his hitting.
  5. Gotta have faith in Moonslav. Plus today is the US Army's birthday (June 14, 1775). What few people know is that the lion's share of that fledgling Continental Army was in Massachusetts. So, me, I'm thinking that's plenty of mojo to take care of these guys from Canada, who remained British during our Revolution.
  6. Weber going for 5.2 innings, 11 runs, and 4 dingers should get a decoration.
  7. The real problem with the Sox is that Cora hasn't figured out the batting order. All these other minor problems would go away if he could just get that right.
  8. Also good Enrique’s HBP wasn’t serious. Get ‘em tomorrow/today.
  9. Ah, yes, if only your wisdom had been available when they needed to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. Pivetta and the Toronto lineup--who hit 5 dingers and scored 7 runs--constituted an iceberg that made "adjusting the lineup" laughable.
  10. Sox showing real balance today. After 3 innings, 1 hit and 1 error. Guerrero is the difference, pure and simple.
  11. That changeup by Matz is a killer. Unhittable so far. Well, except for weak grounders to the pitcher.
  12. Well, today we have reciprocity because Vazquez helped them.
  13. Good call by Vazquez--knuckle curve for the K when the batter was almost certainly looking for a fastball with a 3-2 count.
  14. Nicely done, Pivetta! Catchers usually get those.
  15. Nicely done, Vazquez. A single can tie the game. And no throw.
  16. Good pitching by Matz, who threw some tough pitches to Arroyo.
  17. I've seen that a lot of times. Pitchers aren't used to throwing while stepping up the mound. Same for turning around to throw.
  18. Two fat fastballs to Vazquez, and the best he can do is foul them off.
  19. Getting caught stealing right before the batter gets walked ain't smart.
  20. Tricky motion fooled Devers.
  21. Great play by Hernandez! Vazquez, get into the game.
  22. Great slider by Pivetta! Why oh why did Vazquez call for a waist high fastball on the first pitch to Guerrero? On top of which, he drops a pop up, then calls for another waist high fastball which gets nailed.
  23. Recently it seems as though every game begins with our starter unable to get outs without runs and the other team's starter looking like--today, anyway--Sandy Koufax. Matz is a far, far cry from Koufax, but to the Sox he's not. Another thing. Opposing pitchers routinely throw that high fastball with a 2 strike count, and our guys swing and miss. Our pitchers don't do that very often.
  24. Games won as of June 12 Tampa Bay Rays...40 Boston Red Sox....39 ChiSox................39 San Francisco......39 LA Dodgers.........38 Oakland Athletics.38 San Diego Padres.37 Chicago Cubs......36 Houston Astros....36 Milwaukee Brewers36
  25. Back to back incredible comebacks and wins. MVP78's magic touch.
