  1. Fast ball right down the middle and Schwarber pops out--except it was dropped. A second fast ball down the middle, another foul pop out of play.
  2. Bad call by the ump, but it was also merciful. Kike was going to K because he was clueless.
  3. No big hit, but Boone did his best for Iggy, Dugo, and even Vazquez. Sox tie it on a hard single, an accidental drag bunt that worked, the ever popular wild pitch, and a sac fly. Oh, and the Sox bullpen ain't looking too shabby. It would be nice to see Richards in the 8th. Cora is definitely outmanaging Boone.
  4. Post of the game. Boone lends a helping hand to the Sox.
  5. Nifty moves by Cora, and a solid single by Iggy! And a lucky drag bunt by Dugo for 2 on and no outs!
  6. The Sox have scored over 5 runs a game this year. Now, in the biggest series of a very long season, the hitters are stinking it up against a pitching staff that give up an average of 4 runs a game. So, no, I don't think this game is on ERod.
  7. The standings stay otherwise, and, frankly, I think the standings rule on this point. I do, however, agree the Yankees are better. The Sox were better for three months, but now the Yankees clearly are because they have the pitching.
  8. Completely disagree given how this team is structured. They clearly have the hitting, so the lineup needs to deliver. ERod giving up 2 runs in 5 innings is more than reasonable, especially with a bullpen that currently is well rested.
  9. Fine with me. He just K'd. Again. On a low and away slider. Again.
  10. I do not think Bogey stinks. Far from it. But I do think the Yankees bullpen is deep and talented.
  11. Robles sure likes his slider, and I'm wondering why. It was his first pitch last night and scored a run on a WP. Tonight Judge hammered it, but it was too flat and Dugo grabbed it in from of the wall. Correction. Two of those sliders made Stanton look silly on a K. Tomorrow's another off day, so I kind of hope Robles pitches the 7th.
  12. Meh. Singles by Renfroe and and Kike were harder hit. Ball was hit to LeMaHieu's right and he still could field it cleanly.
  13. I would pinch hit for Vazquez, but also think he is good with the bullpen--better than Plawecki. That GIDP, however, really hurt, surrounded as it was by 3 hits.
  14. Vazquez with his fav--another GIDP.
  15. You're right, of course, but I see game threads as primarily reactive vs. thoughtful/analytical. ERod got tagged plus the BB, but he did well to escape with 2 runs, plus 2 runs in 5 innings isn't half bad. Meanwhile, however, it's an honest question to wonder if the Sox bats are ever going to come alive against the Yankees. Dugo with a hitters opposite field single!!
  16. That low sinker looks awfully good. Indeed, one can make a case that the better ERod is at keeping the ball low, the harder it is on opposing hitters. That K was from 2 low pitches, a sinker and a changeup.
  17. That looked like a good changeup, but LeMahieu hit it hard. Yankees, now up 2-1, seem to have ERod figured out.
  18. Slow call by the ump on a definite strike. Game tied, but a GIDP. Good play and decision (on no toss) by Arroyo.
  19. I think Robles is the right choice in the bullpen.
  20. Alright, already. I overstate to get attention. Yankees now have 2 on, no outs in the 5th.
  21. True and true. Plus a great fielder is wasted in LF at Fenway.
  22. Agree. Still too many talksoxers have yet to admit Dalbec has become a pretty decent firstbaseman.
  23. Box score says the Yankees have yet to have an RISP. Devers and Bogey--the third baseman and shortstop ignorant Sox fans love to hate because neither has won a gold glove (nor is likely to)--were the keys to the first run scored in the game.
