    Two good and tough at bats and singles by two lefty Sox hitters. Three of the four hits by the Sox are by the three lefty hitters.

    Gutsy call, but I'm inclined to agree with you. ERod choked but no one else. Kike was not charged with an error. Sox have K'd but also hit the ball hard. Rays have had the breaks and the Sox absolutely none.

    Good out by Richards. Good call by Cora. Bad start by ERod who choked his ass off when he walked the leadoff batters in the first and second innings.

    What about the line drives right to our outfielders? Say what you want to, but Cora agrees with me. ERod got pulled after 1.2 innings. I wouldn't send in Richards right now, however.

    Rays are good, no question. Sox aren't nearly as bad as ERod has been tonight. He walked the leadoff batter, which he does way too often. He is lucky the Rays only scored 2 runs.

    Good answer. If it wasn't the stick stuff--and it probably wasn't--the long season could be the answer.

    I think ERod is a good choice. He's pitched 6 scoreless innings in October, and his September ERA was 3.96, which included a lousy start (3.2 innings, 6 ER's) at Fenway vs. the Rays on Sep 7, and solid start at the Trop (6 innings, 0 runs) on Sep 2. Cora has 13 pitchers, including 9 relievers, at his disposal, so I don't think ERod will be allowed to throw a clunker. Indeed, think of the recent Rays propensity to start a reliever, then think of ERod as going out there to induce the Rays to put a bunch of righty bats in the lineup so that Houck and company can come in and mow them down.

    They are actually pretty good at just about everything and beyond question are the best run franchise in MLB despite having the worst fanbase.

    Good stuff. I think the Sox do feel some pressure, but it's the right kind. I prefer both Schwarber and JDM in the lineup, but agree tonight's lineup should be pretty decent defensively and still have good hitters.

    I think the key to Barnes early success this year was relying on just two good pitches, fastball and knuckle curve--very much like Kimbrel in 2018 but without the posturing and with not quite as fast fastball. I'm convinced that what killed him was the restriction on doctoring the baseball which affected that terrific knuckle curve.

    While I love the reference to the four WS titles/flags, I'm enough of a realist to believe the Rays are a tough out. In case you've forgotten, they beat the Sox in the 2008 ALCS.

    The actual Sox roster for the ALDS, without the confusion of incorrect additions and deletions, is 13 pitchers (a surprise to me) and 13 position players-- ERod, Sale, Eovaldi, Pivetta, Whitlock, Houck, Robles, Brasier, Richards (huge surprise), Perez, Ottavino, Davis, Taylor. Vazquez, Plawecki, Schwarber, Dalbec, Arroyo, Bogaerts, Devers, Verdugo, Kike, Renfroe, JDM, Shaw, and Santana.

    Stunning. Thanks. Santana is versatile, but I like Arauz. I agree with whoever said he trusts Cora.

    It was a freak accident. I have sprained my ankle and fallen down crossing a street because I didn't look down and ahead. But I rarely sprained my ankle playing full court basketball up to age 40, playing baseball, etc. JDM has risked his ankle every time he slides into a base or fouls off a pitch.

    Roster for ALDS may be out already. My prediction is that Cora stays with the wild card roster of 26, except he replaces Richards with Sale and Wong with JDM. I think 12 is the right number of pitchers and 14 for position players. Of the latter, to me it makes sense to add JDM even if he can't play today or tomorrow. A good bat is pretty valuable.

    You know of course you can be a royal pain, but I can't disagree that ERod isn't he ideal choice, just the best one available--the result of having to use Eovaldi to win the wild card game and Sale to start game 162, which the Sox ultimately won. Cards and Dodgers, Wainright vs Scherzer, are tied after 4, 1-1. First two Cardinal hitters in the 5th get on--single and a BB. Scherzer has thrown 89 pitches.

    I thought that's what you meant, plus he is my choice too, and I will be surprised if he isn't Cora's. He's had a good August, September and 6 innings in October.

    I disagree Eovaldi would have given it up, but I also agree with Cora's decision. Third time through the Yankees lineup ain't easy. Dodgers' Turner just GIDP'd with the bases loaded and 1 out. Wainwright must be living right.

    Francona was good, but he also had some good players, hitters and pitchers. He never came close to 108 wins in the regular season, and he got fired in 2011 because of the Sox total collapse in September and the discovery that pitchers were drinking beer in the clubhouse during games.

    Good grief. Finally, finally last night Cora had a real bullpen he could call on, and you didn't want him to use it? After the game even Eovaldi, who wanted to stay in the game, recognized the danger of going through the Yankees lineup for the 3d time. Rizzo was the Yankees leadoff batter who grounded out and K'd in his first two at bats. Third time--in the sixth inning--he led off with a dinger. No question Stanton hammered Brasier in the 6th, but he also hammered Eovaldi in the 1st and Whitlock in the 9th.

    That doesn't really sound like an ERod endorsement, and you don't even mention Pivetta, so I'm thinking you might want Richards starting tomorrow night. Me, I hope he isn't even on the roster. Scherzer the Great, meanwhile, ain't looking all the great vs. the Cardinals tonight. He's thrown 52 pitches withone out and a man on in the 3d inning, and he is down 1-0.
