  1. Devers as a defensive sub actually makes sense.
  2. Boy do I hope you're right and can then tell me to stuff it.
  3. Buckle down Winckowski, buckle down.
  4. Well Dalbec can do just about everything. I see only two real weaknesses in his game: hitting and fielding. He is, on the other hand, pretty competent in the on deck circle, in the dugout, and getting to and from the ballpark.
  5. Tapia gets a double off exactly the same pitch Devers swung at and completely missed.
  6. Maybe that's why Devers didn't start tonight. He looked absolutely lost in that at bat.
  7. So much for my belief that Wong can hit.
  8. Yep. I do like Houck, but Bello has better stuff.
  9. Actually, the history of Sox pitching suggests that at no level in the Sox system do they know how to improve pitchers, especially with respect to command.
  10. Bello has good stuff and is a battler, more so than Sale who is too easily rattled. But Bello does not yet have the command he needs. To his credit, he does try to get low strikes, but tonight a lot of them ended up balls. This was a very good start against a good Braves lineup. Now let's see if the bullpen butchers it.
  11. That sweeper (or whatever) sure had Wong's number. Three straight swings and misses.
  12. Duran caught a break on that 2d ball--clearly in the strike zone.
  13. Duran struggled yesterday just like Yoshida and Devers did. Time to deliver.
  14. While I agree in principle that creating names for no reason is silly, I don't thing those big sweeping breaking balls are anything like the old slider, which was/is high velocity with a sharp, but not huge break. Looks like Atlanta has Yoshida's number.
  15. That's what the big payroll is for--to hire good pitching.
  16. What we don't need now is a GIDP.
  17. This team has no starters who don't struggle in the mid to later innings.
  18. Changeup low and away for the 3d out!!!! Pivetta doesn't even have a changeup. Three shutout innings for the kid.
  19. Right now Bello's OK except when he throws that sinker right down the middle.
  20. Yeah. Gimme Pivetta any time because he implodes with the first guy he faces. Then the 2d guy, then the 3d, then the 4th. No waiting with Pivetta, he throws the game away in the first inning.
  21. Finally, a slider low but in the zone. Then the K on a slider below the zone. Good.
  22. That's a nice sinker, 97 mph, Bello throws, but not if he keeps it in the middle of the strike zone.
  23. Bello throwing a lot of pitches in the middle of the zone this inning. Either in the middle or outside the zone. No corners.
  24. Was Lee injured or was this 3d inning reliever planned?
