  1. Casas ain't the problem. Sox hitting is the big problem. Plus Chicago is hitting Crawford pretty good. Plus yesterday Winck gave up 3 dingers. Casas had no play at home, but did screw up the throw to get Benintendi.
  2. Maybe one too many sliders, especially when this one didn't have the same bite as the others.
  3. Short showcase for Dalbec. Now you see him, now you don't.
  4. Thank goodness for the helmets.
  5. Banks looks pretty tough to me. Good thing he needed 44 pitches to get thru the first 2 innings.
  6. Kike gets lucky. He's out if the pitcher let's that grounder go through.
  7. Dalbec already making a statement. Just not a good one.
  8. Once again we see proof of how avidly Sox players look for my commentary on talksox. Glad to see Duvall has taken it to heart with a solid double to lead off the 2d inning.
  9. Disingenuous is my middle name, and I say hammy injuries are on the player. Same goes for those self-inflicted injuries to Chang and McGuire. Houck, on the other hand, is a hero. He got nailed in the face by that line drive, went down, got up, walked off the field, and waved to the fans.
  10. Remember Midnight Cowboy and Dustin Hoffman trying to cross the street? That's me, and I'm trying to make a point here. You, on the other hand, are meddling with some pretty brilliant insights.
  11. Sorry to disagree, but Casas delivered the 2 run dinger to save the day and the game--until Winck butchered it with the acquiescence of Cora. Three freaking dingers in two innings. That was a single, not an error by Casas. I'm no big fan of his, but you are over-reaching when you expect him to be a gold glover as well as the deliverer of key dingers. Apparently, the knee issue with Paxton has been going on for some time, so a shout out to whoever mentioned that possibility. Nevertheless, Paxton is just one more example of player fragility on this year's Sox team. Sale is another. So is Chang. So is McGuire. So, really, is Duvall, who at age 34 has played full seasons (140 or more games) just 3 times in 10 seasons. Despite--or because of--his size, the man is fragile. Also, his career OPS is .760, so my less than humble opinion is that Duran or Refsnyder should play ahead of Duvall.
  12. You could well be right. But maybe the fact that he pitched at all this season was the lucky part and all the missed games were inevitable based on his physical makeup. That absolutely applies to Sale. McGuire hurt himself swinging a bat, for crying out loud. Didn't Chang do something like that? Houck, on the other hand, had horrible luck with that line drive--or maybe it was good luck it wasn't worse.
  13. If he does, it shows he hasn't been paying attention.
  14. I'm not so sure. Lynn was better than I expected. Paxton was fine, but only lasted 4 freaking innings. So Cora sends Winck out to throw at least 2 innings, no matter what, and that's what happened--three stinking dingers by the Chisox. The Sox were lucky to tie it in the 9th. Then suddenly, with the game tied and the bases now loaded, The Great Duvall comes to the plate and K's in 3 freaking pitches. So a lot of stinkiness by the Sox--Paxton only lasting 4 innings, Winck giving up 3 dingers, Casas's error, and Duvall's K with the bases loaded.
  15. Oh, baloney. Winck killed us in this game--and Cora enabled him. That was a hard hit ball Casas mishandled.
  16. Strange, but Cora used exactly two relievers for the 4 innings Paxton couldn't pitch. And the Chisox are now on their 3d reliever. He left in Winck just long enough to ensure the Chisox could go from down 1-3 to up 4-3. So, yes, some of this is on Cora.
  17. My goodness. We can't have that. In any case, Cora is off the hook. He counted on Winck as he should have, and Winck stunk things up.
