  1. Well said. But this is a big pie, even the secondary characters should possibly be let go. Who's decision was it to sign Farrell and then resign him again? I've read that Farrell and Ben are pretty much a team. If one goes, than both of them will go as it will signal that a whole new philosophy is needed.
  2. Oh please Lord........ don't let us get swept again.......
  3. During the brief stint we saw him in 2013, I was thinking, this kid is an assassin. He's cool, calm, collected and will kill pitching. I was a fan of this kid since we first have seen him. I still think one of the funniest interview was by him during the WS run in 2013. He had only been up a few days, but did well at the plate mostly by not swinging. I forget what the question was to him, and he said some thing like "they don't pitch me anything to hit, when they pitch to me I'll hit it, why don't they throw anything to hit for me, everything outside...... they pitch me a strike I hit the ball" ....... . I'm thinking, this kid has balls. We heard about the defeive training and hoped it would take, or even be true for all that matter. The quicker step, the more range, but mainly I remember gaining a quicker first step. Seems solid now with some flashes of great glove. I bet you it aint a bad thing he is right next to Pedey and is taking notes. Maybe he is allergic to 3rd base?????? I'm also on the Betts wagon. Seriously, that kid has been unlucky like I can't believe. Lately he seems overpowered and hits something weak. But he always seems to give a good at bat. He doesn't go down easily. He has been hitting it weakly somewhat. But like Xander, he is figuring it out. It will be fun to see him for years. Swihart. He looks so young out there and has this look since day one of "what the hell is going on, and what the hell am I doing". But even though the batting average isn't there, from day one, he has been solid behind the mound. I forget he is a rookie when he is catching. I forget he is even there sometimes other than to say that was a good stop, and that is a good thing. Another 20 pounds of muscle and another year of looking at major league pitching he will be solid.
  4. His tight quad happened from jumping up so quickly when he thought he heard a dinner bell.
  5. What were the two bunts about? Did they actually try to go after the new 3rd baseman? You talk about doing stuff like that, but never do it. Anyway..... good plays on our side.
  6. Alright Papi........ That's the second one recently....
  7. I'd believe Hanley can actually play any position competently when I see it.
  8. Let's get some revenge for last nights debacle...... I'd title this game........ Revenge of the Nerds.
  9. Man am I down on this team. But you are right, there are some positives. I keep saying if we lose this series I've lost hope. I think that last Baltimore series did it for me. If you add Xander to that list that is some good young talent. I'm also a sucker for some Buchholtz too. He's like watching an M.C. Escher painting or something to me..... sometimes incredible, always bizarre. I zonked out after work last night. One of those ones where I slept through the alarm and didn't wake up till morning. The first thing I did as usual is check the box scores and saw it was an incredible high scoring game and we lost. My first thought was, damn, those people on TalkSox who watched the game must have suffered. I salute you....
  10. The first 45 seconds of this seems quite similar to starting a game thread this year.
  11. The next stage for me was acceptance........
  12. Yea, it was more like the WWF. Good WWF, bad baseball.
  13. Just watched the Miley out burst. That wasn't that bad if I saw all of it. Farrell at least followed him into the locker room to finish it. This season is so screwed. This has gotten really bad.
  14. Can't say a loss like this surprises me anymore. Out of defense, offense and pitching, two out of three will be bad in a night.
  15. Sandoval 2014 .6 DWAR 2015 -.6 DWAR
  16. Some of the same old from Napoli.
  17. Some of the old magic!!!!!!!
  18. I didn't want to say it. But I think it's time. I have the answer to fix the teams season and the future.............. Keep Wright....... and get rid of everyone else....
  19. The years going forward would be more interesting to me than this year. I don't think he would have the success he has had in Boston........ gut feeling.... I'm guessing the Phillies still want #1 prices....... and I think he is a number #2.
  20. You are betting that some of them "can get a little of the magic back". We've been waiting a long chunk of the season for that..... Is Nap or Papi done??? I think Betts and Swihart, like JBJ, and Mookie the year before are just overpowered and need a year to adjust. Betts will come around next year, Swihart a little longer. Who knows about Castillo. We will be able to have a good debate on the catching situation this off season. I'd be shocked if Hamels alone could put us above 500. But picking him up for the next few years may be worth it. It's the price.... At the beginning of the year I thought we would see an offense like we haven't seen. I've been completely wrong.
  21. How? Nap, Ortiz, Betts, Swihart, Sandoval are all hitting poorly. Hanley in left on D. (Hopefully part of the change gets him our of there) Castillo in rookie mode, Betts and Swihart also. Pitching is suspect. And all together the whole team is lackluster...
  22. Let this season ride with FO and coaching staff, no sense in causing the disturbance during the season. Start getting the right players for next year. I think we have a good nucleus to start with. If we are last again, or next to last..... the FO and coaching goes right after the season ends...
  23. I'm feeling late to the party........ but it sure looks like it to me.
  24. You're right...... . . . I guess I bought into the surgery thing and all. Naps is one of my favorite also...... so probably more thinking with my heart..... But damn...... Those two are killing us...
  25. At this point, I just can't fathom how bad Ortiz and Napoli are this year. Both of them have had huge declines since last year. Drop offs of epic proportion. And those two I believe, are the main reason our season has been so bad. And...... no one could have called that. Not a drop off THAT bad.....
