    Decided to not take the easy route tonight, so instead of flogging myself I've decided to catch the rest of the Sox game.

    Just to show this all together. The Sox are 29th in strikeout rate ... the 2nd best team in the majors at not striking out The Sox are 4th in walk rate ... the 4th best team in the bigs at drawing walks The Sox are 30th in BABIP at .259 ... to give you an idea of how weird it is, 29th place (Astros) is .269. The Astros are closer to 23rd place than they are to the Sox. The Sox are 29th in the league in Swing% at pitches outside the strike zone and 28th in swing% overall. So the team is not hacking and the batting eye is still pretty good. The Sox are 5th in the league in Contact% and 2nd in Contact% on pitches in the strike zone

    That is freakin nutz..... So, pop ups, weak ground balls, hitting into the shift, and bad luck are all possible culprits.

    I read that wrong. Somehow I thought you wrote that the Sox had a high rating in line drives. Well, this makes sense. You know what's going to be crazy is soon you will probably have a stat showing the speeds the balls are being hit and then can show statistics along those lines. What is that new technology called that reads the speed of balls hit?

    Who knows....... anyone thinking about getting Napoli out this line up is sane..... he is sucking bad........ and I think this maybe his worst slump he has ever had or has had for years.......

    Possible. But I think it would be a disaster. You actual have to have your head in the game to be a first baseman. And Napoli is a good first baseman. He just can't hit right now. Personally, I think Hanley would be a colossal mess up at first, and he would be involved in many more plays.

    It seems like there have been many warning track shots. I'm starting to wonder if somehow we have a bunch of players that put the ball in play in the same place. Maybe we have spray chats that other teams read really well and adapt to if that is even possible. With these shifts now days, a hitter that hits the ball around the park instead of in one certain area may have better success. Watching the games most of the time I dont see where the defense sets up, but it would be interesting to know what's the defensive strategy against our hitters and how successful it is. Like Username mentioned on last nights thread, some games it feels like everything hit is caught. Or maybe it's just bad luck so far.

    I want to learn how to look up more stats than I do already. I'm hoping some of you can help me. I strictly use espn and http://www.baseball-reference.com. Some things I want to look up I don't think are on those sites, or I don't know how to find them. I'd like to look up the Sox BABIP compared to other teams. Does anyone know how to look that up? What site do you use?
