  1. Yeah, so does the "fire Farrell". I'm not saying that Farrell is without his share of the blame, I just think it's too early to make such rash decisions.
  2. Read this morning that JBJ's K/BB ratio is currently 2.3, which is exactly what it was last season. His BABIP last year was was .312 and it was .310 in 2015. His current BABIP is .231. While there is no certainty that JBJ's bat will heat up, that data suggests that it will.
  3. I also think that some people tend to panic.
  4. I really think that some people undervalue defense.
  5. Barnes cannot be blamed for Mauer's home run. It's not like he grooved a pitch. I read that the pitch was 4 ft off the ground. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to a good piece of hitting.
  6. This is like 2014 all over again. Not trying to funny, but it has reached enigmatic status.
  7. I've always wondered about the whole tapping the ground with the mitt thing (which many catchers do), to try to make the batter thing the pitch will be something low. Do batters really fall for that? If anything, I think it would alert the batter that the pitch will not be down.
  8. That sums it up quite well.
  9. As far as today's game goes, I have but one thing to say: Score some freaking runs and WIN!!!
  10. I love this guy: Red Sox Stats @ redsoxstats Sox move Betts out of the 3rd spot, which has already seen 27 plate appearances with 2 outs and bases empty this year. Batting Betts 3rd is not the reason that our offense has struggled, but moving him out of the 3rd hole is a good first step in improving our ability to score runs.
  11. Most teams go dumpster diving for their depth pitchers and players. The players that are good enough not to be dumpster dives are starters on other teams.
  12. I guess it's a rule that we let them get the lead off man on every inning this game...
  13. I'm still ticked about Kendrick allowing Machado to hit a 3 run HR off of him. Of all the people. This game really stinks.
  14. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the Os annoying announcers, but I enjoy listening to Speier. Also, he has the cool geeky glasses. He is the man.
  15. IMO, it would be a panic move. I thought the same about calling up Beni and Moncada last year. It worked with Beni, but I think he's the exception to the norm. It would certainly be an ideal solution if Devers could be called up and save the day at 3B, but it would be a huge mistake to rush him. Our situation is not dire. There is no need for a panic move.
  16. Speier is my kind of guy. There's nothing wrong with a baseball dweeb.
  17. I am not aware of a stat that measure net bases advanced like you're describing. There is a stat called secondary average that measures what you're describing for the batter, but it does not include the other base runners. There are a lot of very good offensive stats like wOBA or wRC that are along those lines, though they count a double with no one on base the same as a double with men on base.
  18. Yes, plus Young has good numbers against Gausman.
  19. Take a seat, Machado!
  20. Need a GIDP, big time.
  21. Hurry back Pablo!
