  1. As I said before, Dombrowski will get us a big bat because that's what is expected. It feels like there could be a bad contract in the making. Panicky. Or as Larry Cook likes to say, Desperate Dave. LOL
  2. I would also think that the extra weight Miggy carries around would hamper his ability to heal as quickly and maybe as completely as a player like Kershaw.
  3. No, I never said that. I said that teams were not willing to put a claim on Stanton because they did not want to risk possibly having to take on that monstrous contract.
  4. One thousand times no on Stanton. The contract alone is absolutely insane.
  5. "I thought we were aggressive in the right way on the basepaths.”
  6. It depends on how good the post is.
  7. No worries, I can't imagine that Dombrowski won't add a big bat. My first choice would also be JD. But I would also like to see him add a top or solid middle starter.
  8. I mostly want to add a #2 type starter because I'm not confident in Price's ability to stay healthy. That said, if he can stay healthy, I think it was huge for him the way he pitched in the playoffs and ended his season. IMO, he has the fans back on his side, which is nothing to take lightly.
  9. +103
  10. +102
  11. I feel the same way about Farrell. I won't be upset one way or the other. Of course, they could bring in someone worse, in which I would then be upset. LOL
  12. LOL You don't have to tell me that. I'm not the one panicking!
  13. !!!
  14. A voice of reason. I'm not sure why some people are in such a hurry to trade Beni.
  15. And add a starting pitcher. Leave the rest of the position players alone.
  16. I pretty much agree with your points. I think this team can be very good next year if we brought back the same players, not that I necessarily agree with standing pat. I would add a #2/3 type pitcher. That said, I am pretty sure Dombrowski will sign a big bat, just because that's what's expected to be done.
  17. Bingo! Also, the contract would be significantly less steep than Stanton's. Trading for Stanton likely creates holes elsewhere, in addition to being strapped with that monster contract.
  18. Henry tends to panic about such things, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's canned. Not directly because of anything he did in this game, but because the team did not advance to the next round.
  19. I don't like to see bad fundamentals, even if the overall net is a positive. That said, I don't think it was as bad as some here think it was.
  20. I agree that you typically don't try to advance to 3B when the ball is hit to shortstop. I just don't agree with your characterization that it's always a boneheaded play, so much so that even little leaguers know not to do it. It's a judgment call.
  21. It is! It is!
  22. Though some would never admit to it, there were a lot of random factors going on in today's game that affected the outcome, and may have been the difference between a win and a loss.
  23. They are going to come from the players we already have.
  24. Nice post oldtimer. I agree.
  25. I am hoping that Hanley is back next year and healthy enough so that his option kicks in for the following year. I believe that if he's healthy, he will be a solid hitter for us. That said, you have a very fair point about his ability to stay healthy.
