  1. I would rather have Bogaerts too. It may be partly homerism, but it's more that I don't like Machado.
  2. Amen, brother Notin.
  3. I don't disagree with either one of these posts. That still doesn't excuse Sale from that childish behavior.
  4. Here's to hoping that your insane pen gets your team exactly where last year's insane pen got that team.
  5. Because I don't like him.
  6. I hope he does well too, as much for his own sake as for the team's. He deserves to get his payday. I just don't think it will be with the Sox.
  7. I am pleased to have both of those players returning. What we don't need is the excitement of a blockbuster deal that involves the trade of Bogaerts, Porcello, or someone along those lines.
  8. Fair. But I'm just not concerned about our BP. IMO, they are easily replaceable.
  9. If moving Eovaldi to the closer role weakens our rotation, then I'm against the idea. IMO, he's more valuable as a starter than he would be as a reliever. Now if other guys like Wright or Johnson are pitching so well in the rotation that Eovaldi kind of becomes the odd man out, then that's a different story.
  10. If the knuckleball is working, he could be a lights out closer. The scary part is that you never know whether it will be dancing or not. There could be a lot of 9th inning drama with him on the mound.
  11. Maybe the owners are finally starting to wise up against the mega deals? One can only hope.
  12. Devers weight is not much of a concern, at the moment. But he is only 22 and it is probably something that should be monitored fairly closely. The Red Sox are concerned enough with it to have him working with a nutritionist or something.
  13. If he stays healthy, Sale is going to command a contract much larger than the Sox should reasonably offer him. Sadly, I think we have to let him walk as a free agent.
  14. Worried about his character? No. But no matter how great a pitcher he's been for us, and no matter what the reasoning behind it, that was a childish thing for him to do and Sale was wrong to do it.
  15. That's quite a bit off from the 10 yr/$300+ million we've been hearing about for so long. I would love it if Machado has to 'settle' for that amount.
  16. These two just need to be signed already.
  17. Mookie would be replaced by a solid hitter. It likely wouldn't be one that will be as good as Mookie, but it also wouldn't be a replacement level player. Improvements could be made at other positions with the money saved.
  18. The starting rotation takes precedence over the bullpen. I would not even consider creating a hole in the rotation to fix the bullpen.
  19. Exactly. If it isn't broke...
  20. No, we really don't need any offseason excitement or surprises. Be careful what you wish for.
  21. Yes, I do, but I do acknowledge that I might feel differently if JD had not performed so well last year. Also, saying that Stanton's contract is $22 mil a year is rather misleading. I get that for tax purposes, it's $22 mil, but that is not what the Yankees are paying him. For the 6 post 30 years, the Yankees will be paying Stanton between $29 and $32 mil a year. That's a significant difference over JD's max yearly amount.
  22. The Yankees don't need Machado. I never felt like upgrading your offense was a need or a priority. IMO, you need starting pitching more than anything. That said, I still wouldn't count out the Yankees getting him.
  23. Any of those guys are capable of winning 18 games. Having them all win that many games in the same season is probably not going to happen. That said, if they can stay relatively healthy and have reasonably good luck, they will be tough to beat.
  24. The rise of Betts has nothing to do with protection in the lineup.
  25. No.
