  1. Well, Vaz falls in the same category as Leon. They are both good receivers that make our pitchers happy. We should keep the Vaz/Leon tandem.
  2. 100% agree. I have always felt that any offense that we get from the catcher position is gravy. Give me a catcher that the pitchers like to pitch to, and I'm happy. If we are trading any of our catchers, I hope it's Swihart.
  3. Dombrowski is definitely working under financial constraints, more so in terms of years than in terms of money for this year, IMO. I am pretty sure that we are not looking at the finished product. Dombrowski will add some BP help.
  4. Back to back to back to back.
  5. Fellow Homer Moon, I am with you 100%. {Fist Bump!}
  6. On paper, the Red Sox are still the favorites, both in terms of WAR and in terms of Vegas odds. We all know that the season usually doesn't play out the same way as preseason projections do, but as far as the GM's off season job is concerned, you want the team that is a contender on paper. That's really all you can ask. We could have a team that is very heavily favored to win the division, and the Yankees could still beat us.
  7. I'm not sure that we want to keep Sale and JDM in Boston. Sale's extension would almost certainly be for too many years. JDM is not worth keeping if that means having to give him more years than the original contract guaranteed him. I would rather have Bogaerts @ 6 yr $150 mil.
  8. I still do not believe that Dombrowski will go into the season with the BP as currently constructed. He has something working, though I do not know what that something is.
  9. Two words. Bobby Valentine
  10. I am very analytically minded, but I do very much believe that the marathon bombing was a unifying factor that helped propel the team to a championship.
  11. Bobby Valentine is to be blamed for 2012, and almost never will I blame a game, much less an entire season on a manager. The blame is due to his off field management, not his in game tactics. Also, Ben is awesome.
  12. LOL That pretty much sums it up!
  13. Thank you for this post Jack. Well said.
  14. And yet, I would not even classify the loss of Kimbrel as being that significant.
  15. Personally, I loved the signings from that off season. My types of signings. Also, I think the freaky years are 2014 and 2015, not 2013. 2017 was similarly freaky.
  16. Don't discount the Reds to do something stupid. Their FO doesn't have much of a clue.
  17. I am not the least bit concerned.
  18. Dave may be taking a risk after all.
  19. I agree. I may have to prepare myself to be shocked!
  20. ^^This.
  21. I would rather have a great rotation and a mediocre pen than a mediocre rotation and a strong pen.
  22. For a one year deal, I'm surprised Dombrowski didn't bite.
  23. Machado is a better player, but he is also a punk. I'm good with Bogaerts.
  24. Jacko gets a little excited about his team. Can't blame him for that. I tend to agree about Ottavino. He's a nice addition, but not worth a 3 year deal.
  25. I don't think that the $6.5 mil is an issue. It's the # of years that has kept Dombrowski from signing a reliever.
